Looked at arctic end of OB first: 2 guys out getting nothing. I imagine that crowd came down to LM?
I was at my neighbor's place last night and met a former pro guy who was out yesterday, too.
Not me. I didn't wanna even think about dealing with the 4th of July crowds down there. But from the post session reports, I'm almost regretting it!
It was actually surprisingly fun there.
I did have a moment that I'm feeling a bit bad about. I was amidst a little dry spell and finally stroked into a fun one and I see a guy down the line paddling for the wave. I start with a low 'yo' and as I come down the line, I turned up the volume. I remember thinking to myself, is this guy not going to look at all?? By this time, I'd already been on the wave for three pumps or so. So, of course, the guy drops in..flails his arms and falls over. I was pissed and yelled at him.
I missed an opportunity to talk to him and 'remind' him how it works and instead gave him an unproductive tongue lashing. I paddled away and was pretty bummed with myself. It took me a while to start enjoying myself again.
Lesson learned for me I hope.....I've been focusing on making sure I enjoy myself and sharing the stoke for 20 years but every once in a while I slip back to my aggro personality that I've worked so hard to eradicate.
Got a rockin' spot for the van facing the beach, headed out around 3. Wind was *almost* offshore, which meant that the regular closeouts weren't so bomby. Had a great sesh, caught a boat load of waves, and came in to have some good ole American food (######). Great way to spend the 4th.
"you shoulda been here yesterday"... yeah everyone was at linda. but a couple ten footers washed away the crowds. it was nice! dont think the soft toppers were expecting that surprise. saw a pretty decent collision
so crowded. I was out from about 8:15-10:30 and it was basically offshore. The wind and crowd both started to get much worse when I left. I got a few on my new board though, so consider me stoked.
One less surfer in the line up on the 4th! Sorry I could not make it = work
