These spots aren't that good and I just don't get it. I'm not trying to stir up crap here, just explore and understand what the hell is going on. Why do people care so much about these spots? Why do they get so bent out of shape at anyone else even thinking about surfing Their Precious?

This has got to be one of the most uninspiring waves I've ever seen. One drop and it goes flat under you. It's worse than Pacifica. Fighting currents the whole time. Dealing with the crowd. Ugh. More often than not I pull up here and even though it's "breaking" I can't bring myself to suit up and surf that lameness. I think the guys out there are only narcissists basking in the admiration of tourists. Granted there are a few times per year when it goes off but for the most part I'd rather go home and examine my vagina with a hand mirror than surf this spot.

Oh my god do you really want to paddle 3 miles to get to this wave? Next time I am bringing my oarboard to get out there or maybe a zodiac. The wave itself is not bad but there's a super tight takeoff zone and a bunch of weirdos in the water. A couple of sessions per year there is enough for me.
I know what you're going to say - "You're right these spots do suck so don't ever surf there!!! - (and oh what a wit you are!) but I wonder what would make anybody so hot and bothered about them. I surf them for the occasional novelty and variety but even if I lived right there I think I'd usually drive somewhere else. I couldn't imagine building my life around them.
