Save the Waves Film Festival

9997

Save the Waves Film Festival is a one-night festival and non-profit fundraiser tour of 3 California cities, on consecutive Fridays in November 2012- in Santa Barbara on November 2, Santa Cruz on November 9, and San Francisco on November 16. This innovative event brings together our singular community of surfers, environmentalists and ocean lovers for intimate screenings of environmental, surf and ocean adventure documentary films.

Save the Waves Film Festival features the world premiere of a new documentary, "Groundswell", by award-winning filmmaker Chris Malloy and Woodshed Films. "Groundswell" is about the adventures of a group of activists who set sail for an exploratory surf trip along British Columbia's unspoiled but threatened west coast.

Save the Waves Film Festival also features the world premiere of "Ode"- a groundbreaking new surf-adventure film that celebrates another side of California, by underground filmmaker Patrick Trefz. Also featuring the world premiere of surfer-activist Kyle Thiermann's latest film in the "Surfing for Change" series, as well as a handful of other highly anticipated films.

Save the Waves Film Festival inhabits a unique niche as an entertaining, thought-provoking, and fun festival that gives back to the ocean environment it loves to celebrate. All event proceeds benefit the environmental programs of Save the Waves Coalition and World Surfing Reserves.
