What's wrong with Chris sharing footage of local surfers? I, for one, am stoked he is sharing it. He didn't say anything negative in his post. What's the problem?

I didn't realize this was a video critiquing forum. To me, this is a surfing forum. Personally, I don't particularly care for the music, but I can appreciate it as Chris' style, and I can appreciate the time and effort he spent to put this video together. But most importantly, I just appreciate good surfers ripping local spots.

Also, to me it's not about if we are "mediocre as a whole". It's just a cross section of our local surfing community through one person's eyes. There are PLENTY of local guys who make a living from essentially just charging waves, and I've seen videos from Chris' company that documents those, too.

But who cares, it's just a 5 minute clip. If you can do a lot better, I'd love to see you share with us. Otherwise, hit mute like I did and enjoy the clip!

I want to offer much respect and gratitude to Chris for putting together and sharing this video in this forum; I loved it and I'd be stoked to watch and listen to as many of these as you want to put up here. This video has, for me, an immediacy and relevance that is so missing from many of the surf vids that I have access to... I mean, while of course it's great to see the kings of the pro surfing tour in exotic locales, it's just as good, if not better for me, to be inspired by local guys on the local coastline.

The guy who posted the vid mentioned in a earlier thread that "people like to keep it low profile around here"(or something to that affect). He's just keeping things low profile by posting video of really good local surf on the internet....Also, love the rap music mixed in with older white males in the ocean.

positive video of 650 locals absolutely ripping and having fun. as a 415-er, I have a lot of respect for those guys and have never had a bad encounter, which is more that i can say for other areas. nice footage.

Chris- Shoot any new video lately? I like it but this one is kinda stale. I suspect that a lot of folks have seen most local-ish surf vids posted almost a year ago. My challenge to you: premiere something here: Shoot it, edit it, post it and pimp it here within a week.

Why does everyone have to "challenge" this guy? I've never seen this video before, so I have no idea how "stale" it is. But good surfing tends to hold it's shelf life longer than a year. I still watch Kelly Slater's "Black and White" sometimes, and it's still amazing to me.

Another point is that I've never seen it on THIS blog, for sure. I see all kinds of people re-posting stuff from various other forums and websites. Why can't Chris just post a vid on this site without someone hassling him, as long as he posts in a respectful manner?

Again, I don't know how old this video is, but I've never seen it before. And I know Chris has tons of footage, because I see him shooting all the time. So, maybe he CAN meet the Greacen Challenge. But otherwise, keep posting this "old" stuff - because I like it. ;-)

Chris Wilson, who doesn't love a good heckle? It means they're paying attention at the very least! I'm piss shivering in anticipation for a) original music that's not taken down by WMG on youtube b) original 2010 content. That's not a heckle by the way, it's feedback. However if we have to wax nostalgic on all the youtube auquaholics channel stuff,or the .tv links then so be it, I'd still be happy.

I said nothing about "heckling" him. That was someone else. I expressed that I would appreciate it if you stopped "challenging" him. I like watching good surfing. Simple as that. So if someone is going to post good surfing on this forum, and do so in a respectful manner, I want them to encourage them to do that. I don't need your opinion about the footage being old, or that you don't like the editing, or bla bla bla. It's the first time I've seen it, and I like watching good surfing and local waves because I can learn from it. So could you.

another guy responds saying that you shouldn't talk about the video in that way, then begins talking about the video in the opposite way

first guy responds clarifying and making his original comments more vague

second guy praises video a bit more, adds some more vague insight.

apparently each has an idea that the other might not agree with - but one does not recognize the other's voice so he/she reacts.

@kenny you are usually spot on with your analysis except in this situation which leads me to believe you have a personal connection with @chris and are being willfully ignorant. @chris’ videos started popping up on this site right as territorial localism started to flare up in the water. @chris’ videos often have threatening imagery to non-locals such as “don’t surf here kook” or “locals only”. Why should @greacen welcome @chris with open arms? Further, if you post a video on a site such as this one you are inviting people to opine which might either positive or negative.

As for this video, it’s fun to watch but it’s no ###### Nuggets (which ruled). To put it in porn terms Aquaholics 09 is like an interracial gang bang from 2009, beginning scene ‘s excluded it is mostly porn. While ###### Nuggets is more like a really old VHS porn you found while look around your friend’s dad’s basement in middle school, it has more production value with some great artistic shots (I really enjoy the scene at 3:46 with the surfer sitting in the foreground and the bridge in the background.)

perhaps the powerlines logo could use be changed - it screams amateur to me
