Taken an hour ago at San Lorenzo rivermouth. This guy was fooling around, took a few on the head, picked one and had a great ride.
This is the first time I've seen anything other than a dolphin surfing on a wave. Do any other animals share in this fun?
today at OB a seal was out playing and stared me down for a good minute. We were about 20 yards a part, bobbing in the line-up. From the way he was looking at me, I think he was wondering: "is this bodysurfer one of them, or one of us?"
I wish I could ride waves like those guys.
I've seen rays "surfing" in New Jersey. They were turned sideways and cruising right down the line of a breaking wave. It looked pretty recreational, but I'm not sure if they do it simply for fun like dolphins do.
