Surprised the Chinese haven't crashed this site for linking to the disrespectful comments posted about them by Slater. Why is Germany doing arresting a person on a decade's old incident? What the statute of limitations? What laws did Costa Rica allow to be broken by Chinese nationals? Good on ya Kelly - give 'em hell.

Wow, that blows me away that Costa Rica would extradite him for a crime that seems would be applauded in Costa Rica. I am also a bit surprised at the German’s directly enforcing the will of China in this situation.

Paul Watson is a douche. If he really wanted to prevent the slaughter of whales he'd use real weapons like missiles, grenades and guns. The potential for a real international conflict would then present itself and the U.S. government would have to be involved, likely resulting in a complete ban of whale hunting instead of currently allowing a quota thanks to the bullshit reasoning the savage Japanese and Norwegians have, hunting whales for research.

spent some time in Neah Bay WA during a sailing passage shortly after a visit from SS. have to say SS were racist dicks in the extreme. the Neah Bay people were hoping to re-introduce whale hunting - not something done overnight - and while personally i think it was not appropriate - SS went way over the line in harassing a small, poor native village. using loud hailers day and night addressing Neah Bay population in racist terms, using foul language, trying in every way to humiliate an already fragile community.
that being said, no group has yet, put so much on the line for the protection of whales.

He's a douche because his methods haven't been fully effective yet he keeps going out there doing the same thing over and over again. Paul Watson's been using his peaceful methods for years and yet there's still whalers going out there murdering whales. What really makes him a douche though is how he repeatedly claims on his TV show that he'll do anything to save a whale, if he was being honest he wouldn't resort to water cannons and throwing stink bombs, that hasn't nor will it ever work with the Japanese and Norwegian savages.

Whoa, lots of info there to digest, @Manny Nori, thanks. Sounds like he could be wanted by any number of countries for any number of crimes. He does speak plenty of truths, though. And manages to get off some good lines like, "Greenpeace are the Avon ladies of environmentalism. Ha! But in the end you can't keep putting people in danger, especially your own untrained crew, and not get called on it. After reading that link I'm wondering what is Slater's attraction to the guy.

My little brother actually ran into Paul Watson's crew when he was traveling with his wife once. All of the sudden this para-military group dressed like a bunch of total badasses roll into port and throw around this huge amount of attitude. If you watch the show that's what they're REALLY like in real life, they're not acting. Thank god they use rancid butter and water balloons and not missiles and grenades.

Well, I knew nada about Paul Watson before this thread...but after listening to that South Park skewering of him and his vibe, I feel that's all I need to know...SP creators totally make Watson out as a melodramatic phoney.
