Okay so the surf is going to be blowed for a while. I've been thinking I'll occupy myself with making an alaia just for fun. And no I don't mean I'm going to spend lots of money to take a class to make a super-bitchen alaia. I mean I'm going to try to figure out what kind of cheap, relatively easily available wood I can get away with using (not pine, apparently, but I'm not sure I'm going to spring for a paulownia blank either), I'm going to draw a template, and I'm gonna get a little hand planer and just goof around. See what works. Then apply linseed oil.
Low environmental impact. Creative goofing off. Anybody else wanna try?
