Rant - Second Neti-Pot Death From Amoeba Prompts Tap-Water Warning

I know a lot of people do the post surf nasal blast with a neti pot so I figured I'd post this. I still use my neti squeeze bottle but am a lot more hygienic about it (distilled water and nuke the squeeze bottle for a minute).

Washing noses with neti pots or squeeze bottles has become increasingly popular as a home remedy for colds, allergies and sinus trouble. But it's not such a great remedy if it kills you.

Would be nice if Louisiana had clean tap water, but I guess warning people is cheaper and easier.

Haha, exactly what I was thinking Tracey. So let me get this straight, it's safe to drink but not put into your nose. Okay... Hmmm... What other orifices might be off limits? Yikes.

On a tangent, what is with all the sag going on in that picture? Am I right?

Tap water that is "clean" and drinkable is one thing... shooting that same water up your nasal passages and directly into your bloodstream on a fast track to your brain is quite another situation. Neti pots just are not 100% safe when it comes to using water that isn't completely pure and filtered to the max.
