SF Supes approve Sloat Erosion Measure

The Board of Supervisors:

-- Authorized the Department of Public Works to proceed with emergency work to shore up a storm-battered stretch of Ocean Beach coastline south of ###### Boulevard.

Plans call for trucking in large rocks to help stop the erosion. Critics, among them surfers and nearby residents, fear the proposed fix will negatively alter the wave action and make the beach less accessible. Public works officials say they have no choice at this point but will consider removing landfill from another beach location.

Mirkarimi, meanwhile, called for crafting a long-term plan to deal with the chronic erosion problem.

The situation just sucks. It sounds like it's rocks or 10,000 gallons of poo.
