Olympic bumpers and a platform, but that might just be my thing.

My gym is my garage so I go for stuff that is versatile, homemade, and doesn't take up lots of space. I was going to say kettlebells as well. Just getting into those but think they are great for strength and endurance. Anyone know of any good places to buy quality Kettlebells? I've heard play it again sports in Mtn.view and San Jose, but looking for somewhere closer to SF.

I made a suspension trainer similar to the TRX system, but it cost $15 bucks instead of $200. Like this

Also-homemade indo board but bought the inflatable cushion of $20 from indo board.

Swiss balls.

a LCD projector showing surf vids would be a killer update.....

You know when you're trying to teach someone to surf at Bo on a high tide and they get sucked into the lagoon and you have to walk them back out against the current?

THAT.

Cool OB Hardass Answer: "Just go surfing."

Gym Rat Answer: Half swiss ball, pilates ball, coupla hand weights, a mat, Laird's book. And enough room to run windsprints.

Got my Total Gym and cheapy rowing machine for $25 apiece at play it again sports, wish they still had one on West Portal, driving down to San Jose or Mountain View for used equipment is kind of a bummer. Pullup bar in a doorway from Big 5, the one with brackets you screw in, ditch the screws it comes with and use bigger stainless steel deck screws. There was a place called ReMatch Sports in SF, but they closed as well. Groupon just had a 50% off coupon for Lombardi's. A few years ago when Groupon was new I went in to inquire about a Groupon discount for Lombardi's and the salesgirl was a lame-o, so I'm not a big fan, but they've got stuff. Now I go to sports Basement (tell them your kid goes to La Petite Baleen and you get 10% off).

@quadrafino, the cheapest place I have found kettlebells is online from http://www.power-systems.com/ If you get their newsletter they have sales with free shipping every once in a while. Free shipping is key with something heavy like kettlebells. My friend and I ordered two 100lb kettlebells on a free shipping deal. Don't know how happy the company was about that but they honored it.

totalgym, lots of laps in the pool, pushups, crunches. need to fabricate a pullup bar. LIKE quad's homemade suspension system - thanks guy. why iis it people could manufacture and sell something cheap and everybody would just buy it, but feel they need to gouge, so we have to do it ourselves. Home depot today!
