******WARNING****YEAH CHECK THIS DUMB ASS OUT WHO DROPS IN ON ME AT THE END OF THE WAVE! F**K YOU TOO IF YOU HATE ON ME I DONT REALLY CARE WHAT ANY OF YOU THINK OF ME OR [...] etc. etc.
Pretty idiotic on both sides. It happens, but when you do drop in on someone, you better eat a little crow and say you're sorry at the very least heh.
hahaha, what a nightmare for a kook, out there just trying to get scraps, think they're finally gonna get one (don't make the drop) pop up and the first thing they see is a real pissed off Hawaiian right in their face. DOH! He was too in shock that the guy made the wave to apologize.
Yeah, kind of feel bad for the kook. First thing he should have done was paddle over and apologize. I can't imagine getting that pissed off though, it must suck to go through life with so much anger/stress.
I don't know I understand where he's coming from... Being in a barrel and coming out of it with a gopro helmet on is difficult to say the least and he was probably waiting a long time for that one and the other guy didn't even acknowledge his mistake. That's a shallow, sharp reef too. He over-reacted sure, but I for one understand the frustration.
ah! a new content style! NastyGoProMoments/AssholesWithGoPros/GoProUnpleasantness - I can feel the tumblr blog coming on right now...
I'd bet the Hawaiian gets dropped in on by tourists at that spot a lot, and probably does let it go sometimes. In the "etc. etc." the Hawaiian says the kook's board hit his head and then he slammed his head into the reef. Also, the kook not only didn't apologize but acted like he did nothing wrong. So that means he'd do it again. Guy's gonna kill someone out there. I would've given him a nice whack on top of his head with the grip end of my paddle.
Faux Hawaiian accent flares up upon getting dropped on. A couple of rights reeling down a reef, one mushy one on the end. Hmm..where could this be?
Looks to me like next time you are on the north shore of Kauai, at a very popular surf spot, where little kids and families are very prevalent in the water - you likely shouldn't drop in if you think the guy down the line might make it.
Great ride that guy had.
Which person you identify with says so much. As a learning tool, it doesn't get any better better than this video.
"which person you identify with say so much"
Are you implying that you identify with a psych major?
------------------
In any case, I would dislike identifying with an angy person as well as someone who doesn't aplogize.
Aloof, unapologetic snake? Helmet cam and poor pidgin acccent? These two deserve each other.

That's actually pretty funny, Rick :) It's definitely a chocolate and peanut butter moment.
Dominance hierarchy
For other uses, see Dominance.
A dominance hierarchy (in humans: social hierarchy) is the organization of individuals in a group that occurs when competition for resources leads to aggression. Schjelderup-Ebbe, who studied the often-cited example of the pecking order in chickens, found that such social structures lead to more stable flocks with reduced aggression among individuals.
Dominance hierarchies can be despotic or linear. In a despotic hierarchy, only one individual is dominant, while the others are all equally submissive. In a linear hierarchy, for example, in the above cited pecking order of chickens, each individual dominates all individuals below him and not those above him.
Dominance hierarchies occur in most social animal species that normally live in groups, including primates. Dominance hierarchies have been extensively studied in fish, birds, and mammals. Dominance hierarchies can be simple linear structures, which often arise from the physical differences among individuals in a group in relation to their access to resources. They are also influenced by the complex social interactions among individuals in the group.
Ok, this always bothers me. This is a drop-in not a snake. When you snake someone you drop in behind them and make it look like they did the dropping in or you back paddle someone who is nearer to peak and has already turned to start paddling for the wave. Just sayin'
I was not aware of this delineation? You may be privy to some strange regional knowledge.
@hasbro How's the cold? Seems like the time down reading was an educational one?
@duncan, Obviously both of these guys are unlikeable without question. They are worst of what people have to offer. I was speaking of the actual situation. Do you identify with the guy hopping the shoulder or are you the guy tubed from behind the peak? I think statistically most people are the guy on the shoulder but those same people would aspire to be the guy in the tube. I mean that's what it's all about, the tube. right?
If you read the youtube comments, the guy says it was the second time said kook dropped in on him. If that's the case, I'd say his anger is justified.
"If that's the case, I'd say his anger is justified"
Regardless of anyone's justifications. You should know that dropping in on surfers will result in anger. Dropping in is inappropriate, unsafe and seen by many as an act of aggression. Malibu is an anomaly.
If you drop in on someone in a tube, fall, hit them with your board and then splash and talk shit back to them afterwords... You will probably eventually be punched or dunked. Sorry for the real talk but that's just the reality of it.
I totally agree. I don't think the guy dropped-in on purpose though. He could have made a bad situation slightly better by sacking up and admitting fault/apologizing.
I agree with Cbrody's original comment, I think he was so in shock that helmet-cam dude made that section he didn't know what to do.
The guy who dropped in... his intentions are completely irrelevant. This is not a "bad situation", there is no shared responsibility. You do not drop in on people. Did you see how his paddling created a section and caved in the tube on that guy... you can be yelled at for that alone. The guy on the shoulder doesn't get to decide who is or isn't making a wave. In the bigger picture, if a person can't take off at the peak for some reason, they shouldn't be surfing at that particular wave. It's not fun for anyone.
@Kai
1 Sorry for leaving off the the 's' on "says" and changing the 'W' to a 'w' and having no '.' at the end. I blame my poor typing skills and lack of proper selective cutting and pasting. Also should have put in a smilie face to show no harm meant with the pop-psychology jape.
2 In the time I've been surfing, I think I've identified with all 57 flavors of participant. Hard for me to feel for either of these two; easier to feel for everyone else in the line-up who has to cope with their crap.
Those two guys are definitely a nightmare. I agree with Garrison Keillor in that there is a recognizable mistake here with a fairly normal outcome. Yelling and splashing is never fun to be around but I've also seen it suddenly inspire order in a normally chaotic lineup.
By my count, 26 uses of the "F" word in about three different forms just by the Hawaiian. Maybe a literacy course should be taken along with anger management. Or could it be because the Hawaiian alphabet has only 13 letters in it, or Pigeon English?
WOW, what a pathetic video, and oh by the way, Welcome to Hawaii.
Aloha and Mahalo
Surfing should be strictly reserved to high school graduates. Dropping-in should be punished by dismemberment.
I see nothing wrong with the footage other than he should have put his fist in the guy's face about 10 times in a row and sent him back to the beach.
Isn't the rule in Hawaii that it's ok to drop in if you don't think the guy is going to make it?
This guy should have used my friend's dad's method:
1. Knock him off his board
2. Punch a fin (any fin) off
3. Tell him you'll give him $20 when you get back to the beach
after all this, I think the weirdest part is that he took the time to post it on youtube.
@cloud, no shit... WTF is going on where an irrelevant incident with some doughy numb nuts kookstipher needs to be posted and spouted off about. It's what happens (give or take) in any given line up, especially a crowded one.
So congrats brah'- you called out an ass who dropped in on you. We get it. Now shut up and go back to surfing. +1 for the splashes. (BTW, you're in an ocean, I think he's wet).
But posting the video? Reminds me of the Chris Rock rant from a few years back- "I take care of my kids....."
This GoProsephite needs to get out of his aunties basement and into the real world

Everyone makes mistakes. It happens all day, every day. It's how one reacts/recovers from one's mistakes that defines their character. I've dropped in on people accidentally many times. I definitely try to apologize when it happens. However, I have tried on a few occasions to apologize and the "victim" wouldn't shut up long enough to listen. So then I'm all like, "Be cool, dude, I'm trying to apologize." If that doesn't work then it's all like "Shut the fuck up and get over it."
I also am always ready to give a guy a second chance when they drop in on me - IF they are cool about it. But what really chaps my ass is when someone pulls some lame-ass move and then starts talking shit or acting all defensive and macho about it. That's when my "fuck you" speech kicks in.
Lastly, when I realize that I REALLY did fuck up ... I'm outa there. Got to know when to fold 'em.
Everyone including yelling man in the video makes mistakes. He lost his board on the duckdive while paddling away after the wipeout. I love how he's reeling the board in while yelling at brah.
people DO make mistakes. it happens. lighten up. bro brah needs to lighten up A LOT and learn to duckdive a little better.
in the words of Duke K. : "Just take your time - wave comes. Let the other guys go, catch another one."
surfing is supposed to be fun. i wonder what would have happened if bro-brah had kept his cool?
guys. This happens all the time. People get yelled at for dropping in. Get used to it. He didn't hurt the guy, except for his feelings. It's good to get your cage rattled once in a while so that you're more on your toes next time
i'd say the dude who got dropped in on was in the right, except he posted an edited video of himself overreacting. which is probably the lamest thing i've ever seen someone do. so i watched another self-posted video of him and realized he makes stupid faces when he paddles. so i'm with the shoulderhopper on this one. because of the stupid monkeyface paddle thing. i'd drop in on him too.
@fishyfish is right. A snake slithers his way around to the inside of others who have been waiting graciously for their turn at a priority position. This is a drop-in. Both are annoying. Get your jargon in order, insta-crowders.
