-it is not uncommon some org is out picking up trash
-they are not putting in showers
-how is hiring local security helping the beach?
-the mighty Snowy One will endure the circus just fine
more corporate hype

Only for rescue though....As for the ??permanent?? showers...that's a crock :)
And now it starts, months before the contest even comes to town. Ya think the City hasn't already worked out many of the details, with some pocket padding going on too?
PWCs will be allowed to rescue professional surfers, yet PWCs aren't allowed to rescue less skilled regular surfers? WTF is that logic? I can't fathom why the pros would need them aside from a requirement by their insurer.
This contest is not going to improve the beach or society or plovers as a whole. But let's enjoy the show. It'll be gone soon enough.
Let's all stop complaining like a bunch of old men who haven't pooped in weeks.
The circus is coming! The circus is coming.
Well, at least the PWCs are being used for life-saving only and not as a chauffeur service to the lineup.
You guys are missing a key point here PWCs are being allowed. Sure they are saying its for "life-saving" only, but if OB delivers and they're facing 45 minute paddle outs, you better believe they'll make a decision to use them for chauffeur service.
I've always loved the circus - nothing like eating popcorn while Elephants crap on the floor!
lol nahw....they'll use restraint...You ever watch the Eddie? Same deal (only bigger haha). On the 'cast you can see the runners rolling by every once in a while, but no one's on the sled brah...They'll keep it clean.
the only problem i see with this whole RIP event is that the location kind of sucks. from stairwell 21 and up its always 1/2 to 1/3 the size of the rest of the beach. i cant remember a 45 min paddle up there, ever. but i have had many many days of 30min to 1 hour stuck in the mud paddles just 5 mins driving toward daly city for sure. my guess is that they will run it in decent head high surf with light offshores, while 1/2 way down the beach it will pumping 8-10'. i guess the one thing that might be slightly interesting would be if the losers decide to surf down the beach and you might get a chance to see a great surfer charging DOH OB on a 5'11". that would be cool for 5 mins.
I'd like to think that all the locals will be on hand to loan their boards to pros in need.
I'd also like to think that the pros will be given whatever waves they want, both out of courtesy and a desire to see the waves ridden to their greatest potential regardless of who is on it.
