A Stealthy New Wetsuit Lets Humans Get Closer to Marine Life

2599

This new scuba diving wetsuit from Human Energy Concealment Systems (HEC) and wetsuit company Xcel dampens our electrical currents by using a ‘Faraday cage’.

The Faraday cage was first invented in 1836 by English scientist Michael Faraday, and is basically an electricity buffer with a metal or mesh screen that blocks out external static and non-static electricity, allowing divers to get closer to marine life while creating less disturbance. It’s not quite the invisibility cloak we’ve been waiting for, but it’s a sure sign that we’re getting to it.
