Stephanie Gilmore Wins Fifth World Title

1898

By winning the Roxy Pro Biarritz in France on Saturday, Stephanie Gilmore took home her fifth ASP Women’s World Title. The 24-year-old Australian defeated out Carissa Moore, and Tyler Wright among others to reach the top of the podium in France.

“I woke up this morning and thought it wouldn’t happen today,” Gilmore said. “But as the day progressed, and things fell into place, I began to believe it could happen.”

Fellow Australian Sally Fitzgibbons finished as the runner-up to Gilmore in the ASP World Tour Rankings. Fitzgibbons fell out of the competition in the quarterfinals, defeated by Coco Ho of Hawaii.
