Rant - StokeReport Beach BBQ on Sunday August 1st at SFOB, 3PM

It's official. The first annual StokeReport Beach BBQ is on. Please join us at 3pm at the northernmost firepit at OB (right up at #####'# ####, Pretty much right on the beach opposite WISE)

So far @dingo has volunteered to bring firewood and @duckdive (a.k.a @stokereport) has volunteered to bring some beer and @dakota will supply double rainbows. Thanks to @dingo for initiating this.

Please reply in the comments with anything that you'll bring.

Does anyone know if those fire pits have a grill plate on them?
Or can someone bring one?

If you are going to OB the pits do not have grills, just pits. Also, be cautious of broken glass around the pits under the sand. I believe Muir Beach in Marin does have grills, but not 100%.

Really good seeing everyone & putting some faces to some names. Good times.

@zurffy & I proved, once again, that you should *always* go. Conditions were much better than they looked. About chest-shoulder high & throwing more energy than expected. We both caught a bunch of waves, including a beautiful damn near cover-up by @zurffy. 'twas a beautiful thing, that one, especially given the conditions.

Right near the end of my session (I'd already called 'last wave'), I saw a dolphin jump clear out of the water. About 3 minutes later, I hear some dude next to me say 'oh shit'. I look over but don't really notice anything unusual. I paddle for the next wave & miss it but realize that *everyone* has gotten out of the water, and they're *all* staring at me... Uh oh... Began wondering whether I'd paid my rent... Caught the next wave, a close out, & tumbled to shore. Got out & walked back to my truck when the fellows that had been staring at me came up & confirmed that they had all beat it b/c the landlord had indeed paid a visit. They freaked out & had all been calling to me to get out of the water, but my damn hearing sucks balls...

...Might be time to pay a visit to the ENT doctor.

Careful, careful, y'all. 'tis coming in to that season...

I knew that wasn't a giant sea bass I saw last week!

@sticker: Discovery Channel just started Shark Week. The landlord must've gotten the message.

let me add: it was nice to meet some of the stokereporters although some had already left by the time my late-ass arrived. If this event repeats in the future, someone should be in charge of bringing something to go over the fire. Tracey and greacen brought food and there was no way to cook it. :)

I'm kinda surprised that alcohol is banned on the beach in SF. Have there been problems in the past? The beach scene doesn't seem rowdy enough to warrant an alcohol ban.

@kook, yes. Back in high school OB was a favorite get drunk and punch somebody spot for a lot of folks. But, alcohol may have been banned then too.

Great event, [hopefully] the First Annual. Nice to see folks and put names to faces. Didn't see the rainbows, though. Must of got there too late...

Twas fun. I'm looking forward to next years' already!
Kooktastic's cocky was a high point for me.
I would have like to see the landlord's visit - from the beach!
Maybe the dolphin leaping was his way of saying "Get OUT of the water, dude!!"
It was nice diving back to the East Bay into warmth and sunshine afterwards.
