from what i can't tell about these postings and their ratings is a. most of the visitors on this site are hetero males. b. there is an aversion toward beefcake. c. even in liberal bay area this applies. i don't think there is anything homophobic or wrong about that. d. the woman in the top photo makes me feel

anyway, i think the main issue with these kinds of posts is not the occasionally model to oggle at (because it's ok sometimes!), but how pervasive it is. How many women do you see in surf videos/magazines? (a few) What percentage of those are in the video for sexual reasons? (almost all) How does that make people who are involved in surf culture think about women? (as sex objects)

Objectifying people (any people) maybe all hip, cool, normal, and the way of the world.. but it's not ok.. no matter how cut or chunky they may be...

When there are pics of men surfing it's about the turn, the carve, or air.. when it's the women who surf it's about the ass, or the tits, or the crouch... pretty lame and really annoying...
