PISMO BEACH -- A surfer was taken to a hospital after being bitten by a shark at Pismo Beach, authorities said.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said a 19-year-old man was bitten on his foot Friday in the ocean near Silver Shoals.
The surfer was out of the water with a cut on his left foot when the fire department arrived. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
