Surfing may find its way into Special Olympics

92

For Megan Bell's first surfing lesson, she didn't need to stand up. No, she was feeling the glide, lying on her belly on a big 11-foot Rozo as the whitewater carried her toward shore, her smile almost as wide as her outstretched arms.

Michael Suarez, though, took the stand-up route. He stood up on his first wave and got up on just about every one after that, even turning the board with graceful moves of his lean body.

Jonathan Dutton stood up several times and already had the lingo down. "Surfing? Oh dude, I love it. I'm stoked."

@H20Man: Special Olympics looks *better* than Lindamar to me.

1) no wetsuits

2) I see some bare *ss

3) someone is actually standing up and riding one of those foamies

@kooktastic, you are totally right. I stand corrected. Apologies to the folks at special olympics for comparing them to Lindamar. ;)
