Apparently the late 60's weren't all about good vibes / love your brother mindsets, not even in a hippie movie... (at 1:38)

We're talking surfing here, waggy. The peace and love ethos of the hippies never really caught on with surfers...a least not like the drugs and fashion did. Besides, dropping-in on someone is as old as surfing. And still as lame.

I'm with you on this ST but you have to admit, it's pretty ironic if you consider how much Nuuhiwa played up the hippie thing... Here he is in Laguna Beach with his buddies from the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, which turned out to be a fairly well organized drug ring and being busted, eventually, which brings us back to your point : ) On a different note, it's kind of cool to see that they were already using boxes for different fin setups on the same boards (check out the single / twin fin in the foreground)...

good obser on those fin boxes, wag. Makes me wonder the circa of that photo, as I don't recall seeing fin boxes till early 70's or so. But that time is always a blur. Whatever the date, it looks as though they weren't putting cants on those twin fins yet. Gotta love how they made sure to get the Hookah in the pic.

The pic is from 1971 by Jeff Divine, about a year after the Maui footage. You can see the rest of the gallery here, pretty cool stuff...

The guy was amazing! I can’t stop from thinking on a video I saw when the guy crushed on the walking bridges which cause of his death. That was very tragic!
