Tips for getting out of O'Neill Psycho II 4/3 with chest zip?

Rant - Tips for getting out of O'Neill Psycho II 4/3 with chest zip?

Got a super great deal on a brand new O'Neill Psycho II with chest zip. Super warm, comfy, absolutely does NOT flush when ducking and tumbling.

But how the heck am I supposed to get out of this thing when I'm done surfing. It was so awkward getting my arms out of the suit I thought I was going to fall into traffic on HWY 1 yesterday.

Any tips from fellow O'Neill (or Rip Curl) chest zippers out there?

It's harder when it's New. It'll loosen up a bit.
One shoulder at a time then one arm, etc. Slither out Of it like a snake shedding it's skin. Then go strangle a mouse.

Zurffy is entirely correct. Wear the suit a few times and it'll loosen up, as will you. The key is getting the first arm out, and the hard part about that is getting the first elbow out. Being a righty I start with getting the left forearm of my suit to my wrist, the elbow of the suit to my forearm, then the shoulder of the suit to the elbow. Once you pop that elbow out and have a few arm to work with, you're set. Sounds more complicated than it is. You'll get it in no time.

Totally worth the hassle by the way.

It does get easier as you break the suit in, but it still can be hilarious for everyone around you on the days it's not going your way.

Some days Greacen can get out of his suit, load up his entire car, check some email, and load up my board and my car before I've got my left arm out of my hooded Isurus. Arg!

Other days I'm out of it easy and I'm wondering what the heck took so long last time.

Btw, that suit is also worth all the hopping and the feeling stupid. It's damn warm.

KY jelly when you first put it on. Slips off with a smooth gliding motion!

Thanks all! I figured (hoped) it will loosen up a bit. KY Dingo? @tracey - lol, I know EXACTLY what you mean! And yes this is the warmest wetsuit I've ever worn. OK, time to get back in the water and give this another go.

I also did some youtubing and found some hilarious videos of people stuck in wetsuit, including a guy trying to get out of the new O'neill Pro RG8!

Maybe O'neill needs to post some training vids on their website!

I've now swapped warm up stretching for getting into my suit!
Maybe I should give up the bear claws???

While I was fighting to get mine off this afternoon I did kind of realize that I pull one shoulder, then the other so that the suit hangs up on my shoulder blades, and then get the left arm out. Hooking under the shoulder blades keeps it from trying to creep back over my shoulders while I'm struggling. For my suit it's a lot of pulling, straightening, pulling, pulling harder...I've got these textured thing on the arms that kind of stick to each other and the only way to get past them is to try and get it off fast.

But I wasn't completely slow today. G was all packed up around the time I was putting away my board. Not too shabby.

i've got an o'neill mutant 4/3 chest zip and also forgot to purchase the Houdini lesson.

My method: use right hand to pull left neck over left shoulder and down over left elbow. Keep in mind just the top is down past the shoulder. There is still plenty left on my upper arm. I grab that w/ right hand and pull past left elbow. Now I can usually regrip and pull my left arm out.

Similar moves on right side.

Such a warm design though.

I've gotten this dialed in over the past couple of years with my 4/3 mutant:

Grasp the left wrist cuff with my right hand (am right handed) and work it over my hand a bit. Now grab around the left armpit and get my (left) elbow to pop thru the shoulder hole. Pull left arm out entirely, causing the sleeve to be inside out (that's the way I like to hang it anyway). Now the right is a breeze, and can be pulled inside out too.
