Sunny Garcia Jr: "Dad....you're embarassing me. I can kick his ass by myself m-kay?"

Press Charges on Sunny! He's always been an A-Hole ! This guy is a Thug and is so far from the Aloha spirit, he belongs in Compton!
Maybe in Jail he can hang out with his kind. The Surfing community should not tolerate this mentality.

Give him a break, he's only enforcing locals only. ;)

@Fog: that's not an excuse for violence, besides, Sunny's not local to Australia. He's from Hawaii. The local guy was getting his ass beat. Bad scene all the way round.

Sunny Garcia 'STRIKES' Again. . . . .

For Sunny Garcia, this is not the first incident he has been caught on camera pummeling someone, and most likely won't be his last. I remember several years ago when he beat an individual for looking at his now ex wife on the North Shore of Hawaii during a contest, of which no charges were filed by HPD. He's already spent time in prison for his tax evasion conviction in California where he met up with some 'Bro's' from the Islands. His listed residence is also in San Clemente. And let's not forget the tantrum he threw with Randy Rarick for being late for his heat at the Pipeline Pro last year too.

Regardless of Sunny Garcia's status in the sport of Surfing, and the accolades he has been lauded for, Garcia has been an embarrassment to the sport way too many times. It's time that the governing boards, and or individuals imposed stiffer penalties on him, and any one else for such conduct that has brought such negative attention. It's time that athletes were held accountable to the legal system for their actions in their respective arenas too. If it were you or I who were involved in such an incident, you can bet that we would have been arrested, and held to the standards of the laws.

I for one am fed up with the likes of Garcia, weather the event be held in their home arena, or anywhere for that matter, laws are laws, and when the evidence is there to view, and witnessed by hundreds, the authorities need, and must step in to take action immediately by arresting the perps, and in this incident, Sunny Garcia! Where's the 'Bra Boys' when ya need them Mate?

Now when we watch Surfing contests, we can play with the wordage of that old phrase; 'I went to a hockey game and a surfing contest broke out.'

As a side note, if I had a say in Garcia's actions, it would be a minimum ban of one year from contests, fines in the tens of thousands of dollars, to include stripping him of any and all earnings for 2011, to include trophies, and his name in the rankings. Could he be on steroids maybe? Time to start drug testing surfers too?

The only way to punish Sunny is to punish Sunny Jr (I thought only WT named their children after themselves but apparently Hawaiian trash do to). People like Sunny because he does what he wants when he wants like Tony Soprano (most people would like to act this way but fear the repercussions) but if you use his son as leverage he will respond in one of two ways: 1) Fall in line (most likely not) or 2) go nuts and authorities will have to intervene. This is just a short term fix but effective.

P.S. @Rev.MCC hockey fights are part of pro hockey and not random acts of violence. On the other hand Garcia's acts of violence are random, sporadic and self for filling. He is just a bully and the only way he will learn is by people standing up to him.

Yeah. Hockey's got it goin on. Check this out. One game last week. 17 minutes of fighting. 300+ penalty minutes. Stupid players, refs and announcers.

KoK - yeah that kinda made my point...

~ And what do these things often come down to "They (he) weren't (wasn't) "respecting" us.. or (worse) out team needed a lift and _________ really stepped up for us" or my favorite (especially on a sunday) they cheap shotted/insulted/hard checked (dropped in on) (insert player name) so we needed to represent who we are and we "punished" him for it....

I'm gonna walk out on a limb and say that violence has no place in any line up that is about "Stoke."

I'm gonna spare you my longer list as I'm about to "clock in" and do that kinda thing anyway...

Sunny Garcia...livin the Aloha Spirit.
He should find some better Roids. Ones that won't act up so much.
Nice how Flores weasels out of it. "I did nothing." Damn Frenchman.. ; )

Update about the incident: Now all media publications are using the word, "alleged" in their incident context. What the hell is "alleged" about Garcia's pummeling of the individual when it's caught on video as it's happening, and hundreds of witnesses watch it go down? Seems that the press has either been intimidated by Garcia, and or told to play it down by the ASP.

I have watched Garcia in several contests, and you see that the other surfers in the same heat stay well clear of him. Even on the beach, people seem to tread lightly when around him too. He's no God, he's no better than anybody else, and sure as hell is not deserving of special treatment.

Lastly, why was Garcia allowed to leave Australia when he's under investigation for an attack on someone? He's no diplomate who has diplomatic immunity! Maybe the TSA agency should put him on the No Fly List.

"Alleged" means it's a legal matter now. If he's left the country, it's unlikely he will be allowed to return without facing the music...or a collection of guys named Bruce.

At least Flores owned up that there should be consequences for violence. Regardless of how it started, Sunny jumping into the middle of it and holding a kid under water is bullshit. You can see he spent his time well at 'criminal college'. Kick him off the tour. Question - if he showed up at OB and started pulling that shit, what would happen?

@captainkickass: I believe "vicuna" Flores when he claims "I did nothing". He's French. A Frenchman hasn't kicked someone's ass since before Waterloo.
