A for-profit commercial enterprise (an online store), disguised as a "society" dedicated to culture, lifestyle and artistry.

Why, I get insight into my board riding culture every day! Whenever I paddle out, it's this: female ass size + female arm size = inefficient design.

Yeah, looks like an online store.

As to women's surf culture: I'm glad there is finally a decent selection of women's wetsuits out there. Even a few years ago it was hard to find a 5/4 without an attached hood.

Other than that, it's hanging out with my buddies after a good surf. And exchanging great wipeout stories like being strangled by the hood. Or the butt-shaped dent in the board. Or the jellyfish in the face. I could go on...

Yeah for my female surf buddies. And yeah for my male ones too.

While gear can be an issue (I wear a men's wetsuit, mens boots), most sites directed at women fall into the same stereotypes that lead to the lack of gear for women. Oh women, aren't they just precious! You totally want a flower surfboard, right! It's made just for you! Look at the gentle script font we've used, it's so feminine! I know they play it broad to get non-surfing women to buy lifestyle gear, but it's too much.

That idea that women must be delicate and precious hurts even pro surfing too. Booty shots get billing over bottom turns and pro women get pushed into promoting womens "gear" that's made for fashion, not for function. Theres no fucking way those bikinis stay on while you're surfing overhead waves. No fucking way.

The best way to promote women's surf culture and women's surfing is to embrace that women rip. We don't need cute little shorts for prancing on the beach, we need durable warm wetsuits, practical skill building resources, and every other thing that every other surfer needs regardless of what's under their neoprene.

Every now and then I notice I'm the only woman out, but the folks I surf with treat me like a surfer. They goof on me when I blow waves and hoot when I've got a good one.

I know women's sites want to focus on femininity but it would be nice to have that same "you surf, you're a surfer" chill attitude that I see from the rad people I surf with here.
