Need to get a new 4/3 sometime soon. Thinking of trying to hit some labor day sales in SC. Anyone have any experience with the 4.5/3.5 Psychofreak? I have heard its really warm... but I'm concerned about durability. How does it compare to a Psycho 2 (my past/current suit)? FYI I'm quite skinny and tall and can't seem to get any brand besides Oneill to fit me really well. being skinny I appreciate a warm suit, no natural insulation...thanks

I'm cheap. I got the ONeil heat. Not bottom rung not top rung. Replace once a year if/when necessary. $238 amortized over a year, considering how much I surf; worth it.
That's less than a Sally Struthers dollar a day.
Edit: PS...taped seams probably should be your only HARD requirement other than 4/3.

I just bought a new Psycho 2 at the Log Shop for $300.
They have a sale going on through this weekend. 25% off O'Neill and 35% off Rip Curl suits... brand new!

I went away from ONeil and moved to xcel. I have two of their suits and they are crazy warm, very flexible and completely durable. Huge fan of these suits now.

@H20MansLibrary: I have a nice Xcel suit with the front chest zip. Love it. One of the main reasons is I'm a total kook and I can't get the zipper up on wetsuits which have the rear back zip. I can't get the goddamm things started without someone else helping.

taped seams are the shiz.
makes a 3/2 feel like a 4/3 to me, most days.
kinda hard to find up here though.
winter, and big cold days, i rely on hotline 4/3's, front-zip.

Get a Buell wetsuit - he used to be Xcel's main designer and he just branched off and made his own company - a little pricey but well worth it - Sick monster booties too. They are on sale right now and will only be this cheap for a while longer.

I have the Psycho Freak, 4.5-3.5. 2010 model. At the time they had the 2009 on sale@ Wise. The 2009 model was to stiff for me in the arms and legs. They changed that in the 2010 model. The arms and legs feel much more free moving : )
I must say I have not been cold in it, ever. I went all winter with it. I did also use O'Neill 1m hood, 1m gloves and 3m X-Cel booties. I get cold easy but like to stay out as long as I can till my back gets tired (4 hours)
I did have a issue with some firewall seams, I sent it in by mail to O'Neill on a Monday and the very next Monday I had a new suit. That was pretty SWEET! So far it is just fine. I also have the Psycho II in 3/2 for So Cal. I love them both a lot. I cant talk for other suits because the last suits I had were Body Glove 25 years ago LMAO!

You don't need a new wetsuit. You just need a steady diet of donuts and some neoprene cement; set for life.
Actually, after suffering with this sieve for a few years (I'm that cheap) I got the O'Neil suit that @piss mentioned. Felt like surfing in flannel pajamas.
