in 2005, Winter lost her tail when she was 3 months old when she became entangled in a crab trap off Florida. She was then brought into Clearwater Marine Aquarium where she was, strangely enough, given a new tail. The prosthetic limb has presented the dolphin with the ability to swim again. Word of the miracle has spread so quickly that attendance at the aquarium has increased five times over during the past 5 years, and a feature film starring Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick Jr and Ashley Judd, entitled “Dolphin Tale,” is expected to be in theaters come September 23rd.
