Winter in the Outer Banks

i've never been there, but i always feel like the outer banks and OB have a lot in common. anyone ever been there?

I've been there a bunch of times. Used to rent a house down there for spring break with friends during college.

Hmm, comparison to OB? I guess there a few parallels when I think about it:
1. It offers the most power on the East Coast (shortest continental shelf).
2. Beachbreaks.
3. The water isn't Carribean blue.
4. Sharks like it.

I've been there a few times. The water was a heck of a lot warmer and bluer than what I had been soaking up back in 'Jersey. @huck's right about the power too. I never saw anything that rivals a big day in CA though. Even right after hurricane Bob (though I probably wasn't looking at the most ideal spot).
