Wooden Surfboard Workshop this June, HMB

1

Hi Everyone…

There will be a Five day-Build Your Own Board workshop hosted by Paul Jensen in Half Moon Bay, on June. 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 2010.

This workshop will have up to nine participants build their own boards to the point they will be ready for glassing. If time allows, we might get started glassing, it’s up to you…

Tuition will be $700 per person, with materials extra, typically about $45 per foot of board length.

Again, the "How To" CD and your choice of a frame kit will be included in the cost of the class...The board choices ( 5’10” Fish, 7’4” Hybrid, 9’0” Longboard and maybe one or two others) and a bit more info can be found here:
http://www.hollowsurfboards.com/fins.htm

A reservation fee of $100 will be required and set up via a payPal link. More details to follow.

Thanks and I hope to have you part of this class.

$700 for the class
+ $45 a foot(for the fish roughly $225)
+ $100 reservation fee
= $1,025 for a wooden fish that you made yourself. sounds like an awesome deal! in other news, I just discovered sarcasm.

Since I just ordered an 8' Harbour for about the same price its not that bad of deal. Hollow wood boards usually are about $300 bucks a foot for someone to build it for you. So $925 vs $1500 for the fish or $1037.50 vs $2250 for a 7.5 hybrid is a pretty damn good deal. I am actually considering canceling my Harbour and doing this. Something about having built your own board is intriguing, plus Wood is a hell of a lot stronger than foam so one of these boards could last 20-40 years of hard riding. Thanks for the post.

From my understanding the $100 reservation fee is part of the $700 bucks.

if you look at it as a board purchase, you can't justify it. i see it as a way to learn something new and get a board (hopefully not a piece of sh*t) in the process.

What price does the jedi put on the lightsaber that he/she made when graduating from grom to kook?

I would totally do this if I wasn't gonna be on the east coast that week.

Anyone know what the cost to get one of these guys glassed would be? I figure there would be some good places in SC to get it glassed. Have to factor that into the cost too.

Hey all,

For anyone still interested, the class is half full and we've got room for 4 or 5 more. Seems like a good use of time while the NWs howl.

Sure, it's spendy, but think of it as more than a board...you're getting first-hand knowledge on HWS construction from one of the master craftsmen.

Thanks again. Cya in the water.
