Young porpoise dies after getting lost in bay

1471

Despite a frantic rescue effort, a plucky young porpoise that got lost in San Francisco Bay today died on the way to a rehabilitation center run by the Marine Mammal Center.

The wildly wayward cetacean drew crowds of onlookers as it swam in circles around San Tomas Aquinas Creek, evidently searching for his long-lost pod of harbor porpoises.

Thanks for posting this and the last piece. I appreciate getting news about sea mammal and ocean habitat preservation efforts. The MMC folks are heroes!
