I was walking to work this AM (yeah the Rev. is serious) about 6:40 (over the "norie6a hill about 15th) and the lines were beautiful with these visible breaking waves and amazing looking tubes... And I thought "I wish I was good enough to paddle out on a day like today" cause I bet that ride is amazing and the beat downs are equally amazing...
While serving breakfast to people in need this morning I found myself pondering how there are lots of ways to ride the energy of the universe and how more than a few lead to horrific beat-downs...

I stopped to watch twice this morning. Some dudes are owning it. I saw one guy consistently shred this big beautiful wave, I can't wait to see the pics. Lay it on us Vonstanger and you other photogs. Some inspiring stuff. Some of those tubes had some spit that looked like enema city if you were in there too long. And how in the heck the two SUP's got out there. Wow. I'm not worthy.

Really nice conditions on the small end of the beach this morning. Offshores, glassy, 10'-12' but more manageable energy level than Friday morning. Unfortunately, the north bound express meant I ran out of runway before I could take off on too many waves. But I did get one spectacular wipeout. Turned for a big beautiful right & popped up but got hung up on the lip. Felt like I was up there for 30 minutes watching the wave pick up, steepen, and pitch. Finally got myself pushed over & started screaming down the face. Thought for a brief second I was gonna make the drop but then got bucked off & skipped across the face on my face doing about 90 mph. Frickin' awesome.
Right before I got swept around the corner, I caught a decent left & almost made a section that would have left me stoked. Unfortunately, I'm just not that good.
Still, pretty happy. And then went home & spent an hour stripping that board of its wax & stomp pad & replacing it. Ready for tomorrow. Yay!

I took the S-bound express on the outgoing tide. Some beautiful bombs going off. Holding a peak was an exercise in futility. I got beat down amazingly hard a couple of times. Unfortunately, no successful rides of equal amazement to my beat downs. Next big swell, I really need to discuss a safety word with Lady OB.
Ill be honest with y'all. I went out again and got the worst two wave hold down of the sesason that i've had.
For a minute there I had actually thought that being on dry land would be better for my immediate health. First one was a solid 2.5 thunder bucket hucking monster that made me feel like I was a chump. Then the little sister came and kicked me when I was down. I honestly think that sometimes this surfing thing is hard to figure out :)
