poor surfing conditions at San Francisco - Ocean Beach

1949
Friday 10am - San Francisco - Ocean Beach, poor+ surfing

Still a little groggy from the glasses of fundraiser, found some CH slop that was fairly surfable. Northbound express was in full effect. After such a great day Tuesday ( http://stokereport.com/report/13640 ) when I came back in today, I saw a small dolphin (porpoise?) that washed ashore. A nice lady was standing over the poor thing on the phone. She waved me off, so I figured she knew what she was doing. Do you just call Animal Care and Control for something like that? Total bummer. If anyone knows more about the youngling's fate, please post. Damn circle of life.

I think bay porpoises are pretty small, compared to the other guys we've been seeing out there. As for circle of life stuff...yeah...it could have been a bay porpoise that the other bigger guys were "playing" with :'( Who knows. Rest in peace feller :(

What are the ones that are bigger than your average grey dolphin and almost black with smaller dorsal fins? Saw one of those going for a wave at SMOT and pretty solidly made a 0_o face at it going by. Figured it was a pacific white-sided dolphin but there's a ton of other surfing sea mammals it coulda been.

You call the Marine Mammal Center for something like that:

Aaahhh, that makes sense. Guess animal control wouldn't be able to just take it to the SPCA. Thanks!

Porpoises are killed by young dolphins as an act of sexual frustration. No kidding:

Poor little buggers.

By wayward young males that can't get some. Like roving bands of teenage punk dolphins.
