Fantastic. Almost all-time, but you have to hold something back right? Mid zone was a super session with many notables of both the board surfing and body surfing variety. T. Reyes got the longest barrel I have ever seen at the Beach. Unreal. Followed up the 3+ hour session by watching Kelly win number 11. Amazing day. Thank you Ocean Beach.
yep, best conditions we've had so far this year. Gotta hand it to the contest organizers for picking an awesome waiting period. scored beautiful OH A-frames down the beach. could hear the screaming crowds from 4 miles away.

Not that we need more confirmation -- but that was the best (or one of the best) that I have ever seen OB. Went out around 9:30 and surfed for 2 hours or so with beautiful groomed lines. Felt like I was away traveling. With the offshores, it was like a right-hander version of Nicaragua, except more user-friendly. Very stoked. Then, lunch out, and back to beach with family to watch surf contest including the incredible Ross-Slater heat. Good times, indeed.
I couldn't have picked a better day to play hookie. Fantastic 2 hour sesh and then cruised down to see Ke11y Slater take it.
Today was so good that I actually went surfing instead of sitting at my desk going "damn, I should go surfing." Yummy.
Best ever OB seems a bit excessive. I'd call it good. Went out for a super quick one on my lunch break. If you happened to be in the right place when one of those a frame sets rolled in ya scored. Beyond that, it was inconsistent with some wide non-peaked closeout sections where I was. Head high to solid overhead. I only had an hour. Got one fun one, but spent a lot of time hunting and being out of position.
well, it was the best ob session I'VE ever had. in fact, it may have been the best session i've had in my life!
i caught a whole lot of waves in the HH range. stoked!
Today was epic, hands down. Dawn patroled in good surf, watch the contest. Went to class. Went back to OB to watch the contest, Kelly won. And OB was pumping. Now I'm working on a the problem set that I've been putting off for surf..
It's all relative. I definitely know that as far as my tastes go I've seen it and surfed it far better. I'd likely be more hyped if I had gotten to stay out longer and could have gone to the contest before or after. I'm glad you all had so much fun. Obviously, a substantial portion of my hatin' is being spawned by jealousy...
Well, to be honest, I only caught three waves and they weren't all that fly. But it just looked so freakin' nice and it kind of made me proud to see OB firing when the pro circus was in town, in spite of all my bitching and moaning about pro surfing.
surfed from 3-4:30pm toward the mexican border and it was very tough to get into the right spot...but damn were those waves clean. Got a few. Very tough paddle out.
'Best ever' is an incredibly huge exaggeration. Good. Really fun. Lots of barrels. But far from best ever.

had to work in the salt mine yesterday. glad to hear that there was the usual variety of experiences out at OB as otherwise if it was all "greats" I would really be bummed... how suddenly things change.
It was a good day to be sure. We have had many great DOH clean days through the past years. The waves were good but you have to adjust your scale since the pros make the waves look about 5x better than they really are. I think the event, the pros, Kelly winning, sun, off shores, etc. just made for a great all around day. No complaints here...
