Waves were "good", but at least in the late morning where I was at the crowd was terrible, hence the "fair-". Beautiful day with lots of HH+ barreling waves (and quite a few closeouts) but also 6 people paddling for every wave, tons of drop ins, and people taking off way too deep and ditching boards. I usually don't mind crowds but when the waves are hollow and a few feet overhead and people of various skill levels are aggro'ing for each wave, just doesn't seem like a safe situation. Ended up just catching a few and calling it a day.

Agreed, weekend warrior syndrome in full effect today. I hope its still this good at dawn on monday morning so I can get it empty.
actually had to bark at a couple dewds who were literally about to drop in on top of my head, which I hate to do! but if they aren't aware of the danger they are putting me in, I have to inform them quickly, right?

Same situation where I was, guys just blowing perfect waves, so many great waves unridden by anyone. Watched a longboarder yell to everyone he was taking a wave, dropped into a perfect right hander, then literally jumped off his board as soon as it started to stand up, then as he paddles back through the lineup exclaims "that was a bit big"... FFS.

The current wasn't helping the crowd situation either, I'd paddle for 10 minutes away from a pack only to have them get dumped where I was within a minute of waiting for a set.

Still super fun though. I saw some guy take an atrocious wipe-out on the drop.
It was an easy paddle out for the size which caused the crazy crowds.

Overhead easy beauties (9:30) with a more or less well behaved crowd then the current moved north and people went in and some long period nicely shaped sets started detonating on the sand bar. Kaboom. Juice!

Part of becoming a good surfer is learning to surf with crowds or figuring out where to go to avoid them. You weren't surprised it was crowded were ya? Almost any place on Earth would be packed with waves like that (anywhere that is near a city at least). What would Huntington have looked like? Or Swamis? or Trestles? or Manasquan? or anywhere in Florida? or... just sayin'.
I had a blast today....sure, I would've loved to have the peak to myself but I got mine.
I feel spoiled to live here. The last three months have been a blast.

They come from a surfer nursery called Linda Mar. Similar to the fungus that spread from my taint to my scrotum, the fungus of Linda Mar just continues to creep outward from where it started.....leaving inflammation and irritation in its wake.

I have to say, this shit was stuffed today. A little dismayed, even though I like Justin Beiber. But who doesn't want him all to himself?

Take a little drive and walk to avoid the crowds... or anyone for that matter. The recon adventures can be pretty fun.

Agreed.
No one should complain about crowds at OB. You've got miles of beach to explore.
Look beyond the parking lot and there are empty waves to be had.
If you're gonna be lazy then don't complain.
Good waves out there....
