fair surfing conditions at San Francisco - Ocean Beach

Saturday 9am - San Francisco - Ocean Beach, fair+ surfing

Solid overhead pushing 2x. It takes a special snowflake to even try today. Being my usual self, I of course, was dismissive. Got out the 6'4 gringo thinking eh, no biggie.OK, biggie. Three mouseketeers put in where the crow flies, and after that it was a 6 bar full signal duck a l'orange slogfest. A few times we gave each other 'the look'. You know as you paddle out, and a huge folding meaty beast roars on the inside, and it makes you pause, and 'look' at your paddle partner in disbelief and dismay for confirmation. I even gave the roundup signal, but you know, stubborn me...never gives up a fight even if up against the ropes. So I pushed. And I got out. The next question is what now....I made it out, so now I have to actually DO something. I'm watching HUGE bombs just spray to the South. I see H20 in the pit to the South and I'm like 'wow, I'm glad I'm not there'. So my strategy to get back in was to get a tweener. Not a huge outlier bomb, but something imbetween in the pit. I move in and take the risk. Next thing I know I see a tweener building. Go time. Stand, yet I feel air...shit...then...thankfully board again...tha tha tha tha tha tha tha F YEAHHHHH!

After about 40 min of getting denied, I finally got and waled up the beach to another spot to try again, was out under 10 min. Why didn't I think of that sooner? works every time.

F. 40 minutes paddling, the first 30 w/@piss until he found a seam, leaving me by my frustrated lonesome. I lasted another 10 minutes before running out of time & will to keep battling. Bah. Grumpy as f*ck now. And, to add insult to injury, I've got to spend the next hour at a 4 yr old's birthday party.

@sticker, not sure if it makes you feel better, but it was a complete shit show further south. At least you fought the good fight

"Three mouseketeers put in where the crow flies, and after that it was a 6 bar full signal duck a l'orange slogfest." one of the best lines ever. props to all who got wet. i watched it for a bit and then decided to go for a long run.

absolutely brutal out there! the only thing that kept me going was knowing the norcalsurfphotos guy was shooting from the lot, and Im a huge photo slut. started out with another stokereport member (tho not sure who, forgot to ask) and within a minute we were seperated by 50 yards. took the ali rope-a-dope mentality and just let myself get worked for 45 minutes until finally, 200 yards south down the beach, i found a pocket and got out. kicked my way all the way from the treatment plant back to the lot (again, cuz im a slut) and finally found a couple BOMBS. full on airdrops bouncing down DOH faces.

Oh and did I mention, today within a single session I had my fin get knocked off, and my leash get ripped off my arm. Now for you non-boogers, having a fin dangling by a finsaver leash is pretty much like having a parachute/anchor attached to your foot.

God I hope I got at least 1 pic out of this LoL

Thanks, gents. Ugh, that party was painful. And, I got a parking ticket.

I learned something today. The Beach as foolproof hangover remedy is not nearly as effective when you get denied. Ooomph, think I need a nap.

That was a fun morning, albeit a bit hairy. Got to use my new 8' Scott Miller, which was the right board for the job. I'm not sure how I slipped out beyond Sticker and Piss, but sometimes that just happens. Anyway, quite the adrenaline rush. Just woke up from a nice nap. :)

Rode my 6'10" and got denied. I walked way north of where I intended to actually be surfing, hoping to drift far south and get sucked into a rip a little bit down the beach. My plans were foiled when I realized that the current had changed direction and I was being pushed NORTH instead of SOUTH. Very frustrating.

Yeah! me and booger butting heads with OMO (Our Mother Ocean). Lost site of you booger but I too finally got out after a 200 yard drift. There were actually a lot of really nice, catch-able waves out there if you were in the right place at the right time. Got the worst clear air lip launch into a suck up and over the falls of my life today that happily did not lead to injury. Tomorrow is supposed to be good also.

Headed out Mexico-ish this afteroon. Paddled for about 40 minutes till my paddle buddy disappeared. After almost giving up about 8 times I was finally let outside. As I was paddling out I saw a bodysurfer get an unbelievable shack! Whoever you are good on ya and thanks for the hoot on that set wave. I only got two waves today but they were bombs and I feel lucky!

Ditto, super heavy at noon thirty. got out on a 6'10" and quickly realized I was sooo not ready for those sets. Deep sea dived for about 20' so I would not get killed and bearly caught an inside wave in. To much for me today.
