fair surfing conditions at Santa Cruz - Other

Friday 2pm - Santa Cruz - Other, fair+ surfing

Headed down yonder early this a.m. to escape the wind and chase the current southerly pulse. Found some glassy, well-formed inconsistent south/windswell combo peaks running up into around the shoulder high range on sets. The lulls were plentiful and there was a crowd on it (most likely due to a surf drought-ridden summer), but when the waves showed, it was absolutely worth the while. Lots of dolphins and seals lurking too. After the past week or so of garbage up here, I'll gladly take it.

yes indeed. took the child to Santa Cruz and found a nice waist-high wave with a lovely long-boardable shoulder. super-nice seeing an actual wave glittering in the sun rolling in as opposed to struggling with wind-swell in the fog.

and +1 for two young women in red bikinis surfing large pink foam boards, and another +1 for an awesome move I pulled to zip around two beginners on the inside who simultaneously dropped in, collided and sent their boards up the air. I felt very elegant, which doesn't happen frequently, or indeed at all, these days. and it was sunny. and warm. and not windy. and nobody got mad at anybody.

I imagine the good lord said "I will make it beautiful, very beautiful. I will make the surf consistent, summer and winter. but everything has its flaws, so I will give it an above average quota of assholes, but even they, sometimes, will not show up. I am done. thank you"
