Alrite, so my report is no where near San Francisco, but instead it is Rockaway Beach in NY. Let's just say I felt like I was walking on egg shells. I dodged a wayward boogie boarder in the shallow who wasn't quite sure what to do when a wave came and apologized for coming so close to her. Needless to say her response of "Yea! Are you fucking blind?" in a deep Russian New York accent took me by surprise and made me chuckle inside.
The waves were fun but bobbing and weaving through a crowd was something that took some getting used too. The locals had it dialed and would come within inches of their fellow humans only to cut at the last second.
Seeing parks security on the beach whistling and screaming at people for wading in ankle deep water in the surf zone was comedic.
All in all it was quite an experience and the $35 my girlfriend and I spent to rent a board for 2 hours was just the thing to go along with an insanely packed beach and too many slices of pizza.
