Well, it was quite a bit bigger than it looked where I paddled out. Strangely easy paddle out yielded sitting in the line-up dodging ten foot walls. They were really thick and heavily textured. Super hard for me to figure out. I ended up getting out and walking to a smaller section. Still solid head high and still tricky to read. But got a couple. Looked like some few were having a good day. Have to say just fair because of how shifty and weird it was.

10 ft walls? Were you looking at the breakwater?
Thats the only thing I saw that was ten foot at the beach today.

There were some 10 ft walls comming through sporadically for around 40 minutes. They were a little mushy and not breaking top to bottom.

the walls were definitely not hallucinations, despite their trippy textures. they brought me down from my session after a lot of cleaner peaking.

Listen. I grew up at the beach, born and raised in SF, have never taken a month off surfing since I first got in the water and surfed the biggest part of the beach all day Saturday and Sunday.
Lets be real. It was not ten foot.

Sorry doubters, but just because you weren't there doesn't mean it didn't happen. I surfed the ###### - more towards the ###### and observed - and the last half-hour I was out (around 2pm), several sets were breaking on the outer bars with wave faces in the 10 foot range. It seemed to be getting even bigger as I was leaving. Unfortunately the bump in the swell was also accompanied by a marked increase in the onshore/sideshore winds that were making a mess out of things. Still, if you were in the right place at the right time, there were plenty of makeable waves with size and lots of punch.

There was a period around 11-ish where there were some 8-10ft waves. Tried to go for a few, but it was definitely out of my comfort zone.

Bouy readings of 3.4 @14 from 305 and 2.4 @14 from 190 do not equal 10 foot faces, sorry. Yes there was a flurry ######, mid morning with some 6-8 foot crossed up peaks, but there was nothing approaching double overhead (10 foot faces). Sorry, let's try to keep it somewhat realistic.

You're delusional. It was not ten foot. The buoys don't lie.
I was on a 5'4" Dumpster Diver and felt absolutely fine on the biggest of set waves. Not undergunned at all. It was not ten foot.

I count HH as 6 ft just as a reference. Sometimes in advance of a groundswell there will be outlier sets that are significantly bigger and appear at randomly staggered intervals. I believe that this has to do with the way swell is sorted out over long distances. That said I have seen one end of the Beach at 3-4ft and other areas easily 1.5OH... and the buoys don't lie, but they can be really sneaky.
