3-5:30, Smooth, bigger than the last few days (not sayin' how many feet but it was overhead) and some long walls. Rode one too far and had to pay the price of admission all over again. Calling it my best waves of the fall season so far due to size/juice factor.

some adult sized waves out there. Was with a few other happy souls before it got sloppy at Sunset and I started feeling like bait.
Observed: A lovely, festive sized left that had my stoke factor on 11, shadows that had me thinking of Capt'n Quint

Raw, semi-jumbled, and at times a wash of unpredictability. The currents were pulling pretty hard too. Lots of labor without much of a paycheck. At the risk of naysaying, I think we've already had much better days this month, but perhaps I just chose peaks poorly. Glad you got yours.

Newt- very true. It was whack-a-mole out there. The stoke to 11 is on relative terms- working man stoke with an hour+ to hit it, trying to grab a few to make the paddle worthwhile. Adjust accordingly, readers.
That said, Baitfactor was at least an 8. Felt like a plump seal sitting all alone out there

Some came in with promise but lacked that punch that made this wknd so fun. That said, it was bigger today.
Question: at what point do the booties become necessary? I much prefer no booties. Having moved here last winter (I know, I'm one of 'those' new guys), I'm just wondering when it's not even an option to choose...is it usually November/Dec? I know it's more personal preference with ppl but remember last Dec/Jan it not being a real option to go toes out. Just loving these days wiggling them in the sun.

It's totally possible and pretty comfortable to go no-booties year round at SFOB. I did it for years. Occasionally when there is frost on the sand in the AM it's a bit uncomfortable. It's pretty funny arriving at the water in the winter time and running in to _warm_ up your feet (Sand ~= 35F, Water ~= 48F)

yep. I hate booties too but around December, unless you are going in for a real short session (not really possible) booties seem to be a must. The water is in the high 50s now it seems. When it hits around 50... you will know.
