I was out from 9-1pm and had some real nice waves.
My paddle out took me several hundred yards down the beach. I kept saying "she will let you out IF.. WHEN... and WHERE she wants to." Finally, 30 minutes later I was paddling back on the outside. I saw a few bombs coming and although I was deeper than everyone else, I had to scratch to make it over. Just as I did, saw another one on the outside even further, maybe 15ft face. I paddled and made an incredible drop. I heard hooting and had an amazing wave. Upon my return, a guy paddled up to me and said... "that was awesome!!!! easily over double-overhead!"
I had a few of those and a few others which is the reason for the grin I cant seem to shake.
Once on the beach, I saw so many amazing rides out there it was AT LEAST "good", bordering on great for many.

I was out from 8-10; Didnt see any bombs that big but surely was in the head+ range. Saw a guy get shacked. Fun times.

for sure there were 10 ft waves. but they always broke way outside so no one ever rode them. at least i didnt see anyone.i only got tossed around by them when they broke in front of me. for the most part there were solid 6 to 8ft bombs one after another. i need pictures of 5loat at 1pm so i can make today BEST SESSION OF THE YEAR!

There was a 25 ft wave freak wave that came in way on the S0uth side and i was on my 5'3 dominator. I didn't think I could make it but paddled and paddled. It was amazing. I had an 8ft air drop, landed it and was instantly in a barrel, only to be shot out like a cannon.
AMAZING!!!!.
Then in the parking lot, some hot chick came up to me and asked me who I was.
I'm now at her place on her computer writing this after my 3rd session.
Today was a pretty good day!

Okay. The last "ten foot face" claim that we had, I was riding a 5'4" dumpster diver. I'm 160 pounds; not a particularly small guy. I'm a pretty decent surfer, but I'm no Slater. I could NEVER ride a 5'4" in ten foot surf, especially at Ocean Beach. Now someone is saying there were 15 foot bomb sets? I was riding a 5'10" x 18 1/8" x 2 1/8" potato chip of a tri fin. Realistically, do you think any amateur surfer could ride a 5'10" in 15 foot Ocean Beach? You know how brutal the beach can be. Come on now. It wasn't 15 foot. Sorry man.

I'm not sure there were 10 ft faces out there as the waves were pretty soft on the ######. 8 ft, sure. 6 ft, definitely.
Remember all you overly stoked reporters, its always relative. Tide building, not draining, makes things softer. The offshore winds do hold them up but you can fall off the lip of a 6-8 ft face'd soft wave and there isn't much of an issue.
Regardless, Fall continued for at least a few hours today. Then, it didn't.

Ok.... I spoke with a photographer on shore and he sent me the pic.
Now I have proof of the DOH... possibly 17ft face.
