well I feel humbled again by your ocean beach. wow. nothing like surfing big waves to get scared. and to think I surf Sunset Beach on O'ahu around similar size. I would call today 10' Hawaiian with solid poundings. I got pounded.
I was surfing South Shore at Pops and 4's this past summer during that big swell and a local asked where I surfed normally. I said OB and he said he wasn't familiar with it. I said that the closest thing I could compare it to was Sunset with all it's moving water, currents and shifting peaks. He looked skeptical. :) Anyway, tomorrow should be more manageable and a lot more fun.
It's *our* Ocean Beach! Keep enjoying it, and safely obvoiously. Heh, the Hawaiian scale is kind of funny. I've looked it up on Wikipedia to find it out one of its intentions is to keep people away by under-quoting the size, haha :) I like the buoy reading definition better, where when the wave comes finally to shore, it could be a (2x?) multiple of the buoy reading. Tomorrow should be fun!
