poor surfing conditions at San Francisco - Ocean Beach

Tuesday 2pm - San Francisco - Ocean Beach, poor surfing

On the lunch menu at Ft. Funston, 5 to 8 foot inner bar grinders served with sand and increasing fog & onshore wind. A few tasty morsels here and there. However I quickly determined I had been overserved after enjoying a small set wave, follwed by closeout walls that kept me inside for about 10 minutes. No thanks. Take that off the menu and replace with a nice riptide. More to my liking.

@king - you surf at Ft. Funston? I always take my dog there and never see any surfers out there...was always wondering if anyone bothered to park there then hike with their board through dogopolooza.

walked south from ######. I like surfing next to the cliffs....feels like Torrey Pines / Blacks down in San Diego

I actually parked and surfed it once. Got my ass handed to me on the inside. What looked like a possible shack, closed-out. I was in about 3-4 feet of water and hit the bottom harder than I ever have. Never went again. I hear it's surfable on the very, very big days, but I've never seen it not close out.

The left by the cliffs looking south from south ###### lot is called "cornholes", named so because it used to be a spot where the boys would cruise.

Nice. Havent seen any of that. Main excitement down there is less than brilliant parents letting their kids climb the supercrumbly sand / sandstone cliffs or setting up their day encampment directly below same. Doing either of these things may eliminate the need to save for college for little Jack / Spohie down the road.
