Was more fun than I thought it would be. Waves are pretty low energy, but clean enough for some fun once you get it. Beautiful sunrise, got a few nice rides in. More in the knee range, some great wist high sets every now and then, but rare. Was pretty glad to have my 9'4 (ha! @cryptomail) but @over_the_falls got in some nice ones on his short board. There was a dude out there killing it on a SB. Looked like he was having fun. Good morning Linda Mar! :D

Coming down 1 the moon was reflecting off pretty much everything I could see on either side of the pacifica pier. it was lovely. I wish my phone could handle low light, it definitely can't do morning at the beach justice.

Bummed I couldn't join you today. We turned up a new circuit over the weekend, and nobody wanted to cover my on-call shift, lest they have to deal with everything blowing up as people on the east coast opened up their web browsers :/

The morning rush came and went without event *weep*

Yeah it was pretty small but a good day to practice easy duckdives, for those of you that are so inclined. My best wave was one I took from @tracey after she decided to pass on it, even after I tried to call her into it!

Heh when it's THAT small, I've gotta show a little love to the short boarders. That wave was bigger and set for you to nail, I went for the knee high softie behind it. I had enough foam under me to pick off ripples. Thanks tho! I'm glad you got a good ride out of it.

Took a look at the buoy this am and decided to dust off the log from its winter sleep... glad I did!
Just like @Tracy said.... more fun than expected... Slow cold little peelers.... Ah, summer....

haha, I dunno....I don't own a log anymore but you know what...if I had a twin keel retro, or an alaia (DON'T LAUGH) I'd actually like to try it today LOL!

I spent 4 hours in Bolinas watching @cryptomail work his tail off sitting inside to catch knee-shoulder high waves. The guy was WAY underfoamed on this little fish and still hopefully grinning ear to ear.

I figure why jump on the bigger steeper wave he's been waiting for all day when I can snag the next one just as easy and get to hear him hooting all the way down the line? He can work that wave better anyway!

In-the-lineup vicari-surfing can be pretty dang fun too. :D

@cryptomail - sorry you've never experienced a courtesy wave from the plank people.
That sucks for you. I don't think it's something that even enters the mind of most folks who have never struggled with the shorter crafts...
Whatever a person likes to ride, I think there's a benefit to trying a variety of shapes... which hopefully translates into a greater awareness of other riders in the lineup.

haha it's no big deal...actually come to think of it, last summer, there was this time at LM where it was crowded and I got on the same wave as a longboarder, while I was on my shortboard...get this...we were on the same wave, going the same direction and then I start to cut a little and he's all WHOAH!!!! I straightened up and when the wave was over he's all "I don't mind sharing, but dude, don't do any cutbacks into me" Haha, we laughed heartily. I liked that guy, cuz he understood I practically had to get lipped just to get into it that day :D and he shared!
Yeah I agree that everyone should try all kinds of shapes to appreciate what they can do, and how apropos they are for the conditions, etc. I'm a glutton for punishment, so I'm short only now even on lumpy teeny days. Paddling is FUN! Sure is fun though watching the longboarders work their magic from afar, and then walk the deck!

@crypto, I was going to try pulling the back fin out of that piranha I sold you, and ride it as a twin, but never got around to trying it. try it on a small day and let me know how it goes!
