good surfing conditions at San Mateo - Linda Mar

Sunday 5pm - San Mateo - Linda Mar, good surfing

0900-1130 | CH - HH | no wind | fun, fun, fun! |

SMLM made an amazing recovery after yesterday's winds and the result was downright fall like conditions. Clean waves (see below #1), plenty of pop (see below # 2) and consistent sets. It was crowded (see below #3), but it worked out. Whoot ocean!

p.s. I completely and very accidentally dropped in on a SRer. Mea culpa!

I surf Linda Mar occasionally and the place seems to always be overly crowded and always closing out. I can deal with the crowds, but the closeouts wear on my soul. Anyone have any ideas when Lindy is actually ridable (i.e. swell direction, tides...)?

Linda mar is at it's best when you are surfing ocean beach.

two more from today's set. As you can see, I wasn't the only over eager surfer today...

Best to remember that LM isn't just 1 break. There are about 5 different spots on the beach that handle tide and swells differently. The best time to be there is at the crack of dawn. You'll have your pick.

It's easy to dis LM, but if you go early & often you'll find very good fun more often than not.

Yup it's almost as dynamic as OB. But way less challenging and less powerful. But it can break boards still as we see.
In general go to LM on a higher tide with a special wind direction... and bring a bigger board. Always!

Those pics are classic Linda Mar.

Thanks for the responses...I usually only surf Linda Mar when OB isn't working and I need a paddle...and generally shoot for high tide. Sounds like I'm doing it right...

I'm just hoping that surfer A (above) was saying "dude, like, I can surf circles around you!"

Hey Zurffy, you drive a black Mustang with a license plate that reads "Zurf" by any chance?

If so, we work in the same building :)
