got up early this morning hoping for some of the goodness that you guys got yesterday only to be foiled by the fog...from what i could see of ob at 6:45 it looked messy. I drove to LM and it was clean. 95% of the larger sets were closing out...which is typical...although there were enough people in the water so that some guys were in the right spot at the right time when a decent wave with some shape and a workable shoulder came thru. I was even one of those guys on exactly one wave. I also had fun taking the drop on about 8 head high closeouts.

I think it really depended where you were... I got into multiple HH-OH walls. The drop was steep, and the potential for punishment high, but the shoulder offered some excellent moments to cut and drive. Even the closeouts were holding up enough that there was time to get a great initial carve on the face.

...but if you count crowd as a factor alongside swell, wind, tide, etc. then it was poor+

you all don't know how good you've got it up here. The "crowds" up here are miniscule compared to SoCal.
They've got one advantage down there though. Wetsuit-less surfing in the summer. It's a beautiful experience being out in 70 degree water on an 80 degree day even if the waves suck.
