Sunny skies. Calm winds. Glassy ocean. Head high+. Just beautiful.

Stuck in Dublin (not the good one) for a weekend of U11 soccer. Hating your report but pining for Monday. Have fun. :(

You've got to be kidding me. The surf this morning was like a shitty desperation day in April. 4 feet at 11-12 seconds. Basically Gulf windswell...warbly, shifty, many closeouts, no power, not even breaking on the outside. Sure, it was rideable. Was it good? Not really.
Some dork here is going to say, "oh you had to be at such and such street, but the bars were only working there from 10 to 11:15" or some such crap. Bull. I drove the beach. I ended up surfing within view of the huge pack of lemmings at ######, I got 7 or 8 rides, it was ok, I watched the pack a little, some people got a few rides. Nothing particularly noteworthy.
It was SO-SO. On the Ocean Beach scale, I would give it a C to maybe a C+. (If it's relevant, this is based on 23 years of experience surfing this place, in every kind of conditions.)
Here's what sucks so badly about this site: it's great that you guys all stroke each other's stokes and egos and have your nice little bro-downs going on here, but since there will always be at least one poster saying it's fair to good at Ocean Beach (if you call it OB, you are a KOOK), when half the time it's not, you're helping to guarantee a constant crowd. It wasn't that long ago you could surf totally by yourself in the middle of fall. No more.
Anyway, thanks for posting a report at 7 am suggesting it was freaking awesome out there. Thanks for giving the checkered flag to hundreds of little sheep so they could fill up all the parking spots with their moms' Audis, flail around the inside section, fall on the takeoff, and hoot at their buddy dropping in on 3' wind swell.
Whatever happened to figuring it out for yourself?
Whatever happened to discretion?
Whatever happened to surfers being individualists?
Oh yeah, I forgot. The internet happened.

I agree with Kooks_Lurk_here...this site tends to have overly positive reviews of the conditions. But come on...you had to have your head in the sand to not know it's a surf weekend. Sunny...and a swell coming...that's what brought the crowds. Not the internet.

Ah, man, the inventor of surfing has weighed in as he does from time to time under a variety of handles. The rest of us miserable bastards are stuck with learning from others, sharing and caring! (Pitiful, ain't it?)

Kooks_lurk_here was right about one thing...much flailing and snaking going on. Every out of shape dude with a dusty thruster or log was out there. I blame it more on wetsuits and the winds finally cooperating than the interweb though. And the rest of his rant is a childish load.

Something about this thread looks very familiar and about as played out as this song:
