OLB was going off today! Screaming and threatening to run a dude over in the lineup and getting shit talked in the lot. Hilarity. Homie needs a deep tissue massage and a few xanax real bad. Anyhow, the lot peaks were packed, but there were some fun uncrowded ones a few minutes up the beach. Shoulder highish with a few head high ones on rare sets. Soft as usual, but not closing out. OB looked fog locked and kinda hacked by afternoon, but Linda stayed close to glassy, sunny, and hot. No complaints.

Good times this morning! I was in from 7-8:15'ish. Found a solid rip that made for a dry hair paddle out which otherwise would have been a paddle fest. Pretty Clean, solid, focused peaks with some power...I thought I was at OB. Boomy Drops but fast shoulders. Some closeouts but hey it is Lindy. After a good rocking I went south to round out the session with some ego boosters.

This is a late post from my early am session. Quite a bit bigger and wilder than yesterday. Wind was up a bit too. Still plenty of zippy low-tide leftiness to enjoy. A few more people in the water, but plenty of waves (and mega-close-outs) to go around.

I got an early start on the morning, took a peek and passed on SMLM. I headed south toward one of the off-the-grid spots which looked good enough to give a taste-test. The waves were CH, heavy, and pounding./dredging right a the edge of a sandbar. I had my ass served back to me on a paper plate. Decided to trek back up toward LM and paddle off the shame. To my surprise, I found a nice glassy WH peeling left. The fog even cleared and let the sun come out. Pretty damn fun.

Highway to the danger zone. Some of the worst board ditching and body flailing I've ever seen was going down out there this morning. TOTAL SHIT SHOW. Multiple collisions, double to triple burns, and a large pack of clueless guys on big, hospitalizing boards. Pretty sketchy in regards to saftey. Definitely some fun spring style shoulder high lefts running for a while if you found a way through the shooting gallery gauntlet. Loving the frat boy sponge crew in the lot. One fella put his suit on backwards.

haha I actually went out in the slop tonight. was pretty bad, but still nabbed a few fun corners here and there. right time + right equipment + trashy waves = ?? I won't say the location I have been going to lately, which has been a lot better, but i thought with the south wind and all lindy would be moderately fun. not too disappointed.

Much better than I thought the low tide would be. It's small, there are looooooong lulls, but with winds are southerly and things are clean. You're gonna want plenty of foam to cruise the soft thigh-waist high waves and the water's a rather funky brown so you're gonna want to avoid gulping any down. Fun enough for me, the whales took a pass and headed south.

From 1:30 to about 3pm there was a right that was holding up pretty well in front of Hell's Bell. I was able to snag a few from the two SUPers who were bunching up the peak, and one of them had to be the best wave I caught at LM in sometime. Only a few of us were sharing the peak but half way into it, we started sharing it with 10 others. Sun was fun, lots of ladies in bikinis and not enough parking... Good 'ol Linda.

Good times at Lindy, chest range but friendly faces and not as dumpy as yesterday night. Scored some nice rides from 9-10 then the tide started to shut it down from 10-11. The Kook prarade came out in force around then and after threading the needle a few times I was over it.

Doubled up shit surf. I saw 5 dead birds in the water. There were two with their guts all blown apart. Scrubbed hard when i got home. The water today seemed to have floaters, tons of garbage and wave barf everywhere. I think I'm good off Linda Mar for a while. She's acting like a skank, not much of a lady today. OB was clean and nice when I got home.

Any day you get to surf with whales is pretty darn okay in my book. They're about 200 yards off shore and spouting out their location. Fun to watch during the lulls. There were some flashes of fun with some waves linking up the reforms for longer rides. The bigger sets gave a little more to work with, but not much time before closing out or just flabbing out. Fairly sunny.

great surfing conditions at San Mateo - Linda Mar

Really, it was Great! Outside waves were the best to be had. Rode em all the way to the beach every time. Saw a whale out there too. Some douche bag on a orange pearson arrow longboard was yelling at some guy to paddle in. He didn't ruin my sesh but almost did with some serious bad vibes. I think he was bummed out cause some guy ran over him. "dude you are on the inside with a pack or 30 other surfers you are bound to be run over"
The outside sets that came every 10minutes or so was where it was at. The best surf sesh of the spring.

Went back out for second sesh, but couldn't handle another paddle out at OB. Needed something a little more laid back...something that would mesh a little better with my pakalolo buzz. Busted out the 8'0" funboard and was pleasantly surprised. Had some really fun waves on the ###### that held up all the way to the inside. Some sets were coming in head high, but the chest high waves were holding up better. No complaints...fun time overall.

My expectations were low, so I was happily surprised at the number of open faces there were on the higer tide. Sun came out, basically calm water, so overall a nice morning. Some speedy inside reform sections if you could get it to connect. Fell apart with the tide switch.

Got there in the afternoon, stayed until the sun was almost in the water. Started out really windy, wasn't finding much, and almost decided to head home. Instead I headed on down to ride some knee slappers, and after a while something funny happened. The wind calmed down a bit, it got pretty smooth, and with the tide coming in things got more consistent and a bit bigger. And all of a sudden it was actually kind of good; fun, anyway!

Then, between two waves, the bump was back, it went onshore, and it was time to go home.

Also, the weather was crazy, raining and sunshine at once, green-grey clouds, rainbows, really quite nice.

Odd...vientos del sur con carne....There were a few ones coming in that made things fun, but it was a lot of sandpaper to the face. Solitary on the N end, no takers save myself. There were times where I thought I was in a white squall, just sitting there, blinded in the venting torrential white downpour. Saw a few black heads popping up, giving me that wry, inquisitive look. I'll call it maintenance and surfboard kiting, won't call it bad.

got to LM about 2:30; left and came back about 3:30; from here on it got much improved, as the wind direction shifted around and the tide filled in. strong south current; must have got out and walked up the beach half a dozen times. semi-good rights; and a few make-able lefts. Saw the groms getting lots of waves. still wonder how it is i can get swept down the beach, merrily on my way, while a bunch of what look like 5th graders stay in position with no problem. what gives? I give it a fair.

sick conditions! Wind was a constant 30mph+ off shore! got in a 11am and out at 2pm. just as i was getting out the waves picked up to a solid 4-5 feet. I wish my arms didn't give out cause thats when it was best. blowing so hard , it was hard to stay in the pocket otherwise you were blown back over the wave. Pretty sweet though. My eyes are still stinging from the wind.

actually fun little session at sunset today. Suprisingly glassy just north of Lindy and some awesome lefts throwing. Might have even been barrelled on one/kidding of course. Why are you guys even checking it today? ;) Someday soon, I hope to paddle out in San Mateo...sigh...

poor surfing conditions at San Mateo - Linda Mar

Poorplus or fairminus... hard to say exactly. Things that worked: offshore breeze, sunny, a little bit of swell. Things that didn't: low tide at the closeouty-spot, chilly, long lulls... We went in, caught a few short drop-&-bail closeouts, then paddled toward a spot that was working. By the time we got there, the beach was empty (another plus), and that spot was indeed working. Found a few fun lefts.

Walking back toward the lot, we saw a big pile of meat. Yep, the head was ripped right off, as was most of the skin/fur/blubber. What is so damn tasty about those pinniped heads?

Hit Lindy from 4-7. Some surprisingly big sets coming through...easily 1.5+ OH. Smooth and glassy...if you could get into one early enough, had the best chance to turn the corner and get some face time. Actually had a couple really fun waves...got far enough down the line on a few to work some fun cutbacks. Love sitting out there on a day like today...caught myself getting mesmerized by the sound of the rain hitting the water. Looked like the outer bar (to the south) was firing. Anyone ever surf out there? Is it even possible?

Some decent conditions although a little soft for the most part. Some good shoulders here and there. Nice current keeping people honest. I finally gave in and did the full tour from one end to the other. Found some fun along the way.

Another pretty decent day. Took the shortie to Canada pre-crowd and the log to middletown post-crowd. Heard many people mention their high stoke level, and I have to agree with them. Canada was bowly and fun, middletown was logariffic. If it were only like this all the time....

Very little of the good stuff we found yesterday. Cleaned up quite a bit between 6:30 and 9 even though the breeze turned onshore a bit. The sun popped out for a little while... maybe it'll stick around. Sampled the goods at a few spots along the beach and found some fun moments. You will too!

Oh hi. Pretty fun this morning, huh? Those WH-CH peelers were indeed a blast. Almost glassy at times. Yeah, pretty crowded... but heck. Worth it. I certainly had fun. You looked like you snagged a bunch of fun ones... Good for you!

overheard: "it doesn't get any better than this"
overheard: "I've surfed this beach 30 years and this is the best I've seen it."
overheard: "Is that a loon?"
overheard: "lergy and gurch be damned!"

drove to SMLM to check it since the south winds were smokin. Empty parking lot. Watched for a bit...saw some fun wedges comin in and decided WTF. Paddled out....caught some fun waves with enough shoulder to get some turns. Oh well...at least it wasn't a total loss.

fair surfing conditions at San Mateo - Linda Mar

The ole' southerly wind safety bet. I caught it at high tide after work and had a decent time. The gromathon on the inner peak inspired me to paddle outside, where there was surprisingly hardly anyone sitting, and wait for sets. Inside was running in the waist to shoulder size with the outside pulling head high. Although there were a lot of super soft ones that required hops, there were definitely some fun lefts with lengthy (in terms of LM) speed sections into an oncoming right closeout. I generally tend to set my standards low when I paddle out at Linda. Today exceeded them.

Your choice: small, occasionally hollow waves breaking on rocks... or SH, drop-and-dive-for-cover close-outs. Both under sunny skies and nearly no breeze... What do you do?

Curious what it'll be like once the tide comes back.

On the verge of even calling it good! That was the most fun I've had in a while at LM. Surprisingly, the dropping tide didn't shut it down as much as I thought it would. Caught several fun lefts just north of chalupaville and enjoyed the sunshine.

Pretty fun out there this morning. With the breeze dialed back a bit, the chop calmed down and some of these bumps had a chance to stand up and do their thing. The tide was right to set up a few WH-CH peaks which peeled in each direction. Pretty fun stuff. By 9, the size dialed up a bit and the crowds were starting to grow. The sun/sand was so nice I wanted to nap on the beach post-session... maybe next time.

observed: a few CG helicopters circling LM, RW, and Mori Point. Anyone know what was up?

Small and clean this morning with light offshore winds. There are long lulls, but some fun shoulders and plenty of sunshine to soak up. Took my 7'4 out for a practice day and was still able to get a handful I'm happy with. Other folks might prefer more foam to accomodate for the Waist high waves and the soft high tide.
