Arrived at this San Mateo spot and was surprised to find a crowd and camera crew. Though elder statesman Jeff Clarke was there suiting up, the cameras weren't there for him - Bethany Hamilton was in town (perhaps a premiere of her new film "Soul Surfer"?) and did a brief interview for the cameras on the shore before suiting up and joining a dozen of us in the water.

Hi Folks: A friend, Dan Duane (many of you have read his articles and books including "Caught Inside" and "Looking For Mo") had a tough session at OB/###### yesterday - leash snapped on a big wave and he had a difficult swim to shore. His trusty board - an 8'10" Rusty gun (printed "made for Dan" on the stamp") did not make it to shore, at least not while he was looking.

Great 7AM session on a beautiful clear, sunny and warm day with light offshores and head high clean bombs coming through everywhere. Surfed South ###### to Second Lot and there were several good peaks. Tide was rising but low tide later today should be amazing. Get thee to OB pronto.

7AM at ###### was poor+. very little to catch but a few waist to shoulder high waves came through from time to time. All the same, there was very little wind and it was nice to be out among seals, dolphins and Cryptomail.

I went out close to high tide at 7:30 AM. ###### had some nice outside peaks, but the paddle looked a bit unwelcoming. I surfed VFWs/###### and found some nice peaks. A bit smaller than ###### but still head high plus. Mid-beach looked to be a wreck - no one out but a couple of bobbing heads way outside at ######.
