great surfing conditions at San Francisco - Ocean Beach

Waves were "good", but at least in the late morning where I was at the crowd was terrible, hence the "fair-". Beautiful day with lots of HH+ barreling waves (and quite a few closeouts) but also 6 people paddling for every wave, tons of drop ins, and people taking off way too deep and ditching boards. I will post a public report here tomorrow about how great the waves are. I will once again be suppressed by how "terrible" the crowds are. I think I'll try posting pictures of how great the waves are and see if that cuts the crowds down?

fair surfing conditions at San Mateo - Linda Mar

This morning we will put emphasis on the word "texture". It is indeed textured, smaller than yesterday and I am currently looking for those workable inside corners we hear so much about.
I will head into the parking lot and collect some accounts of the surf conditions. I always find these first-person accounts our culture's most important and thought-provoking.

poor surfing conditions at San Francisco - Ocean Beach

In the car at the ###### parking lot with Alani. It's quite dark and cold now. It feels more like Baltimore than California tonight. The winds seem to have turned a bit more north in the last hour.

"Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright / Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, / Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

fair surfing conditions at San Mateo - Linda Mar

The conditions are pristine with a bit of east flavoring our predominantly southerly winds this morning. The swell itself has dwindled a bit and I anticipate the high tide to swallow what surf remains as Jonah once was. In a purely allegorical fashion, of course.

poor surfing conditions at San Francisco - Ocean Beach

The surf conditions appear dismal at best. We have a fading, even lackadaisical swell intertwined with an unsavory wind out of the south-southwest. Good surf conditions often relate to the techniques of fiction: characters, scenes, a big urgent emotional question. And as in the best surf, tone counts for a lot.
