Muni Metro's N-Judah line to shut down for 9 days

For nine days beginning Friday night, Muni's busiest line - the N-###### - will shut down while a well-worn stretch of rail is replaced. The Metro line's nearly 40,000 daily passengers, already accustomed to crowded commutes, will have to pack onto buses or find another way to get downtown and back.

It is May in the midst of autumn in Melbourne. Yellow leaves have fallen and they are visible blowing across the grass. Melbourne is a beautiful city and although it is where I call home, I still need to escape.

A sailing association says a yacht apparently collided with a much larger vessel during a race off the coasts of California and Mexico, killing three crew members and left one missing.

The Newport Ocean Sailing Association was hosting the 125-mile Newport, Calif. to Ensenada, Mexico yacht race when the collision occurred several miles off the coast near the border.

Missing Farallones race sailor's body is found

A body found off the Farallon Islands has been identified as Jordan Fromm, one of four sailors missing after a deadly April 14 yacht race, authorities said Saturday.

Fromm, a 25-year-old Kentfield resident, was lost at sea when a wave washed over the sailboat on which he was a crew member during an annual race around the islands.
