Small and weak, but organized and surfable with enough foam. Longboard highly recommend! I am calling it poor+ because of weakness. Knew to waist high with a rare shoulder high wave.

Some nice waves to be had in and around San Mateo... waist to shoulder high on the sets, rare head high ones. 10+ wave count and clean. Some nice rights. 3-4 guys out.

Down side was weak energy and lulls between sets. But you can't be too picky today. Fair+

Looks like one of the few places open for surfing this morning. A little closed out, but definitely surfable. Winds pick up to 30+ tonight, so choose - get a few at LM or hold off for a couple of days. I am getting in :-)

Size is variable from shoulder to HH+ Weather is sunny, light to no wind.

Paddled out with @duckdive. A few times, in fact. Rejected twice at ######, but moved north a bit & third time was the charm. Once out, waves were OH - 1.5X and pretty clean & glassy. Once out there were beautiful big rights & lefts with a little patience. Also about a million seals & a couple of dolphins. Beautiful monrnig.

Beautiful morning at OB. Paddled out with @duckdive. Not a bad paddle IF you pick your spot. drifted north & started picking up clean, glassy OH+ peelers. A little right time / right place but overall very very worth getting out. Looks like fall is making an appearance :-)

mixed up, funky, intermittent & occasionally large (OH+). Moderately difficult paddle that went unrewarded. I can't surf later today, but the call seems to be to wait a few hours until the tide drops. I would wait if you can, cause right now it's a little like going to 'OB gym'... Best parts of the morning were: no one out, dolphins, seals, and a bonafide fogbow as the sun started coming out.

###### looked a bit too mackin' for my taste... Chose ###### instead (thx to H2OMansLibrary's report). Moderately hard paddle out, shifty OH waves to be had. Seemed a bit right time right place to me, but was sunny & beautiful. Challenging but fun to be out.

Surfboard size / conditions

OK - this has probably been the subject of many discussions, but this one is the first for me.

Question: how do people pick correct board size for conditions at OB?

My developing answer: Normally I use a 6'0" hybrid shortboard/fish for most of my surfing. It's a great all around board.

However, when wave size starts jacking up & the waves start rolling in fast, this board starts feeling like the wrong one:

- paddling out is a bit harder, tough to make it through those breaks in the waves

mixed bag. sunny ish, pretty. crazy strong north current. some big 1.5OH outside waves, but mushy & intermittent. I took my 6'0" but should have had my 6'8". Hard to get on a wave but there are some big nice ones if you get lucky & have enough board. Fair-

Got in about 7:45am. wind was dying but fog was still thick. Waves were sectiony & a little mushy (my guess is ###### might be REALLY mushed out), but there were some head high shoulders if you were in the right place. Stong current pulled everyone out & north.

Overall a fun session. I got a bit lucky & at any rate wanted to get in before the predicted winds start a'blowin.
