Fun morning out there. No wind, mostly small waves with larger sets. Lots of clean lefts, some rights. I was out from 8-9:30; the waves seemed a lot mushier by the end.

It was big and lumpy out there, but with enough lulls for reasonable paddle back. I got a couple of huge, crumbly waves between 8-9. The weather was unattractive from my car, but fine once I was out.

Small waves, grey skies, no wind. Conditions were poor, but I got a bunch of short rides while on the escalator south. Lots of crabs in the shallows - they look mighty tasty.

Fair conditions, good times from 7.30-10am. Small waves, but warm, windless, and without many people. It was turning into the usual crowd by the time I left.

Its nice when LM waves hold up, and don't close out.

Small, glassy, slightly crowded from 7:30-9am. There was more juice early, which faded until I left. Awkwardly, it wasn't so bad as to be "poor", but it was worse than y'day - which I also dubbed "fair-".

Really, I should call it poor, but I had too much fun. Tiny, glassy and mild from 7-9. Only a handful of people out, because there was hardly any energy.

I did see a wild turkey doing a mating display in a parking lot on Mt. Tam .

South swell delivered the goods in Marin. I got a roiling point to myself, and spent 8-9.30 being gently lifted onto long ch/hh walls. Exhaustingly long paddle-backs were followed by immediate new rides. Fantastic.
The tide came in as my tyrannosaurus arms gave out. I caught a last, absurdly long, gentle wave in.

Dumpy little waves on a bright day - I tried out my new handplane. My waterman's resume is complete: I'm awful with every form of water-toy. Good fun, nice weather, crap waves, clownish riding. Happy.

It was a beautiful day to leave work early for an app't with Dr. Ocean. Sunny, small waves, nobody else out at Location Turtle. Despite the puppy-dog-kisses of OB at 3-5 feet, my leash snapped on my first wave. I went Old Skool for 3 swims back to the beach ... but I sure prefer a leash.

Harassed by a local: sea lion would not leave me alone. He kept surfing AT me, with his head raised high up out of the water. It was weird. He followed me for ~15 minutes (which seemed longer).

The waves were smaller than they've been: slightly jumbled up, but glassy. Also, it was cold out there.

Good 5-7 foot waves in Santa Cruz (noon - 2.30). Full of people, but great waves.

Bolinas is nice. Mellow, clean waves in the chest-head range. I got long head-high rights around 7.30-8.30 this morning, but then it got junked up w/ high tide. There were plenty of zippy lefts in the lefty area. Stuck around 'til noon, but it was best at dawn.

It was gorgeous sunny day, too.

I went to Capitola from 11.30-1.30. There was little surf. I did find a small, bowl-y point, but it was crawling with groms. I caught a few leftovers, and meandered up the coast to SF. Kinda not much surf along the way.

There were two otters *crunch* *crunching* crabs next to me in the line-up. Which was nice.

Fair conditions from 8-9.30 at the jetty. Very mild, no wind, only a couple folks. A little more energy and it would have been perfect.

There were more bodyboarders than surfers - one pack of 5, and a family group of 3, later. I guess that's because of spring break?

Poor to fair at the jetty from 8-9. Nobody else out, so I had my pick of shoulder-high crumblers waddling through. Strangely few closeouts - it was soft & mellow. I had a blast, but it probably isn't to everyone's taste.

Playing on land

I spent a few hours setting up a slackline near Lake Merced, falling off it, and hanging out with my brother. It was tough, but my balance is crap. Still, great fun, and felt surf-like. Also, I can wear my hat while I play.

Gorgeous, mild day at Half Moon Bay jetty.

I started at Pacifica - too much white water for me and my log.
Went to Montara - great waves behind too much white water.
Down to HMB, where it was "just right." I splashed around on clean, shoulder-high waves from 10:30 - 1:00.

Conditions at LM were kinda crappy from 11-noon, but I had fun.
Mixed up, lots of white water, some closeouts, some shoulder-height ones which held up. Weather was nice, and not many people out. I took my "short" board instead of my preferred log - it looked like a terrible paddle-out for a bigger board.
