Lots of waves on tap. Mostly waist high, some shoulder high. I got 36 between 8:30 and 12:30. The wind was picking up when I left.

Polluted waters, climbing instead

Fear of rain runoff is keeping me out of the water for a day. I'm going over to Mission Cliffs tomorrow @8pm, to be crappy at indoor climbing. I'm happy to belay any of you who wander in.

Better than it looked. Very clean (no wind); small peaks; small shoulders; small closeouts. It was just me and 3 spongers from 8-9.30.

Clean, waist-to-chest high peelers from 8-9.30. Surprisingly long rides for the jetty. Seemed like a great day for a log.

Fair conditions from 8-9.30 at the jetty. Very mild, no wind, only a couple folks. A little more energy and it would have been perfect.

There were more bodyboarders than surfers - one pack of 5, and a family group of 3, later. I guess that's because of spring break?

Fair-good conditions at the Jetty from 8.30-10. Upgraded to good, b/c I had the whole park to myself. No wind, chest-to-head high waves. Stoked!

Poor to fair at the jetty from 8-9. Nobody else out, so I had my pick of shoulder-high crumblers waddling through. Strangely few closeouts - it was soft & mellow. I had a blast, but it probably isn't to everyone's taste.

Playing on land

I spent a few hours setting up a slackline near Lake Merced, falling off it, and hanging out with my brother. It was tough, but my balance is crap. Still, great fun, and felt surf-like. Also, I can wear my hat while I play.

I had a better time than the conditions would predict. The waves are crappy, but the sun is shining, there's only a tiny wind, and I caught some chest/shoulder high crumblers.

Cold, beautiful day at HMB. Clean, knee-high, with occasional chest-high sets. There was another guy out from 8.30-9.30, but I had at least an hour to myself.

Small waves, and not many of them. Bring a plank, and some patience. It was mostly sheltered from the wind.

Fantastic morning for a longboard at HMB.
Sunny, no wind, tons of small peelers, and intermittent chest-high sets. Nice shoulders, and rare, glassy 2-foot barrels.

Gorgeous, mild day at Half Moon Bay jetty.

I started at Pacifica - too much white water for me and my log.
Went to Montara - great waves behind too much white water.
Down to HMB, where it was "just right." I splashed around on clean, shoulder-high waves from 10:30 - 1:00.

Conditions at LM were kinda crappy from 11-noon, but I had fun.
Mixed up, lots of white water, some closeouts, some shoulder-height ones which held up. Weather was nice, and not many people out. I took my "short" board instead of my preferred log - it looked like a terrible paddle-out for a bigger board.

There were a dozen folks catching mushy waves at boat docks.

Looked lovely from the cliff around 1pm, but I didn't have gear. Waves seemed around 6-8 feet - nobody in the water so it was hard to gauge.
