Hehehehehehehe wipe ooooout!! Those famous Beach boys lyrics have forever ingrained the word in our culture, but wiping out is serious business. Most of the bad things than can happen while surfing do so during a wipe out; injuries, broken boards, collisions and worse. There will be times when you are held under for longer than you like and other where you don't know which way is up. But there is actually a way to properly fall to help decrease the chances of something bad happening. Experienced surfers will do it out of reaction, but with a little bit of practice, you can wipe out properly as well.

Surfer punches shark then catches wave

A surfer fought off a large shark and then reportedly rode a wave to safety in Western Australia.

Michael Bedford was knocked off his board by the shark, believed to have been a great white, which then came back for a second charge, witnesses said.

Another Dead whale discovered in San Francisco Bay

A dead whale was found in San Francisco Bay Wednesday and it is the second time in three weeks for the Coast Guard and marine biologists.

The Coast Guard says it has been authorized to tow the whale out to sea, but by Wednesday evening, they were not sure where the whale had drifted.

This past week a friend got me a Catch Surfboard to review. Whats funny is that I had been contemplating buying one for a few months. But I was still hesitant to spend over $350 on a softtop.
